As modellers, apart from building bigger piles of brightly-colored boxes containing various models, we are also great consumers of products such as glues or paints. In this report from the Nuremberg Trade Show, i'll be bringing some information of new ranges and some expansion within existing ones...

There is little doubt that acrylic is rapidly becoming the medium of choice for many modellers. Traditionally, it was the preserve of the figure painter, now, modellers of all 'disciplines' are beginning to enjoy the many benefits of this paint. When Tamiya began to effectively replace their 'traditional range of enamels with acrylics, many modellers began to see their advantages - non-toxic, odorless, rapid-drying and easy to use with an airbrush.
However, in recent times, the hobbyist has become far more demanding in the range of shades they demand and this has caused two companies to take a large share of the market - VALLEJO and (more recently) LIFECOLOR. Both of these companies were represented at Nuremberg and both were showing of new product lines.
Beginning with LIFECOLOR, when they started, their colrs were only available in 'sets' of related colors, now, helpfully all are available individually. However, they are still producing sets, here are the latest ones:
CS-06: German WWII Luftwaffe Set # 1
CS-07: German WWII Luftwaffe Set # 2
CS-08: Italian WWII Army
CS-09: German WWII Kriegsmarine Set # 1
CS-10: Railway Set # 1 - this is a set of 6 dusty and rusty colors for railway vehicles.
In the LIFECOLOR Accessories for their Acrylic range, two new products have been added (available from March 2007):
THL - LIFECOLOR Thinner
CL - Cleaner (for brushes and Airbrushes),
Availability: More and more stores are selling this range. To see the COMPLETE range, visit the LIFECOLOR Website
Moving onto one of the most popular ranges, VALLEJO, their existing range has received two new additions that I could see:
TRAINCOLOR Set - this is a set of NINE colors designed for weathering railway vehicles and includes two brushes along with step-by-step instructions.
The other release, was a can of SPRAY Grey-primer under the VALLEJO label.
Finally in this report, the always interesting subject of adhesives...
One of the stands was showing off the products of StarLoc Adhesives and although they had many different products (covering LITERALLY every application), several stood out as worth mentioning - in the area of Cyanoacrylate Adhesives:
Flexy Cyano / Clear 'N Tuf As the name implies, this is a flexible Cyano avilable in two colors - black or clear
Odourless Non-Fog Cyano This works even on expanded polystrrene and does not fog or whiten. It comes in three consistencies - Thin, Medium and Thick
Non-Drip Gel Cyano useful for gap filling and slower (15-60 seconds) setting,
Unstick Adhesive Debonder It's available in three varieties, super-strength, solvent-free and in Gel form.
The manufacturer's website can be seen: Starloc Website
