Trumpeter provides further details on its mobile multiple rocket artillery vehicle.
Delivered to the U.S. Army in 1983, the M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (M270 MLRS) is an armored, self-propelled, multiple rocket launcher that has been adopted by several NATO countries.

Trumpeter’s Mittleres Artillerie Raketen System (MARS) kit builds the M270A1 variant. The M270A1 came about as an upgrade program of the U.S. Army in 2005. Whilst it appears identical to the M270, the M270A1 has an Improved Fire Control System (IFCS) and an Improved Launcher Mechanical System (ILMS). M270A1 launchers feature improved survivability, reduced operating cost, increased munition options and GPS navigation.

Kit 01046 features a multi-directional slide-molded cab and lower hull. More than 800 parts over 24 sprues comprise this kit including 184 individual track links, a copper tube and a photo-etch fret. Decals are provided for the M270A1 under German Army service. As built the model stands at 200.5mm (L) by 89.5 mm (W).

US M270A1 also has the handrail for the TC (Track Commander). US calls them TCs.

Nearly had a heart attack when I saw the price of this in my hobby shop today ........ $160 AUS

That is the issue. You can get it on-line from Asian suppliers for about $70 USD plus shipping, which is pretty reasonable, depending on where you are and how quickly you want it. Local hobby shops have gone nuts on their pricing. I want to support them, but can't justify the mark-ups they are charging. I know they have to so they can stay in business, but still can't justify it to myself. I'll support them by buying supplies and small accessory sets, but I usually buy models on-line.

Yes I know, but compared to some of the other Trumpeter new stuff as well, the price just didn't really compare................the Scud was the same price in the same shop. Do you think they will bring out a U.S version soon........anybody in the know........know

According to their 2017 catalog, they are supposed to have a US M270A1 and the M4C2V (also based on the MLRS chassis). I think there was also a British M270 in their 2017 catalog as well.

Over 800 parts, costs 82:50 Euros (about US $ 86.50 or AUD 114) at Modellbau König. This comes out at a little more than 10 Euro-cents per part which isn't so bad. MBK has it priced between the Mi-17 helicopter and the BM-30 Smerch kits. It is not a cheap kit but considering all the parts I would still say that it is value for money. / Robin

Considering Meng priced their M2A3 Bradley at £49.99 back in 2014 which was a skimilar vehicle with a roughly equal amnount of interior details, I would find Trumpeter's pricing for this kit to be acceptable 3 years on.
