Some interesting news on Academy's 2017 catalogue, with 1/35 models for both WW2 and modern fans.
The following kits are listed as "new":
  • US Army M1A2 RUSK II
  • T-34/76 Nº 183 Factory
  • US Army M163 Vulcan
  • German Tiger I Early "Citadel"
  • German Konigstiger
  • IDF M113 Zelda
  • ROK K2 Black Panther

The catalogue has also models at 1/48 and 1/72 but no news there.

1/48 scale tanks , Academy originals or Hobby Boss / Tamiya / or someone else re boxes ? Not that that's a bad thing , a lot of smaller shops don't carry Hobby Boss so if Academy can put kits in shops , that's good right ?

1. I wonder what the "limited edition" Tusk II entails. 2. Even though they still advertise the crap M1A1 Iraq version, I don't see Sheridan (by far the biggest disappointment to me from Academy). 3. Vulcan and Zelda are probably reissues. No indication of "new" parts.

Win! I sold my Vulcan for $50, six months ago. Glad to have another try, at this one.

They promise a "German Tiger I Early "Citadel"" but, with all of the Bundesarchiv photos to choose from, they show us a Tiger that was nowhere near Operation Citadel ! It is, at least, an appropriate vintage. In fact Tigers from several months' production took part in Citadel. I'll be interested to see if Academy sort out the markings and if they give us something more than new decals here. David

No new Braille, but they seem to be re-releasing the previous stuff. Good to see the Deuce+1/2, the half-track, etc. will be available again. Since they have the Dodge ambulance, a 3/4 ton carrier would be nice, too, although I suppose the ambulance could be converted.

Does anyone know if they offer their German Fuel Truck with schwimmwagen in 1/35? That would prove useful for several dio ideas.

The Tiger "Citadel" does not say "new parts" therefore it will probably be their old Tiger early perhaps with the updated turret sprues of their mid and late kits. So no new parts made for this boxing but new parts that weren't in previous releases. The M163 and Zelda don't say new parts either so there is no reason to expect any. Reading comprehension and critical thinking skills people. What does the document actually say? Not "what do I want it to say" I would love it to say M981 reissue with new parts to make a M901. But it doesn't. But we will be getting another entrant into the King Tiger sweepstakes. Academy will be adding new parts to their KT probably to make an earlier production version and if their Tiger I middle is any indication it might include Zimmerit decals? Yippee! I am so ooo under-whelmed and full of cynicism! By the way this is the entire page listing service for armor by Academy. If you don't see it, it does not exist as of the date of publication.

I apologize for being an old man with weak eyes that couldn't see anything beyond the words Zelda and Vulcan in the list Carlos wrote up there Bye Hisham
