Such nickname was given to the Soviet ISU-152 tank as it was capable of blowing wide open, German Tiger and Panther turrets, and even Ferdinand casemates. Trumpeter has released a post-war variant, the K model, and we took a look at what it has to offer.
The ISU-152 was a Soviet self-propelled gun developed and used during World War II. Crewed by 4 to 5, it boasts of a powerful 6in gun (152.4 mm) that could knock-out heavy German armor.
The ISU-152K was a modernized variant developed in 1956 under the Leningrad Kirov Plant. Its engine was upgraded to that of the T-54. Fuel capacity was also increased 920 liters, as well as ammunition capacity which totaled to 30 shells. The commander’s cupola and sights were improved, and it had a new running gear design based on the T-10 heavy tank.
Trumpeter’s kit 05591 consists of 360+ parts. It boasts of a multi-slide molded lower and upper hulls, metal barrel, photo-etched details, and individual track links. As built the model’s dimensions are 298mm (L) by 220mm (W).
