I just got my T-54-2 kit! WOW is an under statement. It was so heavy I expected metal tracks inside the box! Now I can't wait to get my hands on this one.

This seems (and I say seems) to be an IDF Tiran 4 with the late bins and still with the 100mm D10T gun: LINK I can't make out the turret roof vent but it appears to have the small front wheel station hub - which could still be a T-55 up to Model 1958. At the other end of the spectrum, here is a T4 still with spider wheels and no bins but with the 105 gun: LINK This is what is in the background of the MinArt box art: LINK I want to model this, but with spider wheels, as the Alpha and Omega with a fully-modded T5. The 105 with spiders in the previous photo must presumably have existed as a 100 with spiders. Did SLA actually have any 105mm Tirans? I can only see 100mm in an admittedly cursory search. One might assume that 100mm ammo was easier for SLA to come by so perhaps they deliberately got essentially late-type mods but still with the D10T gun? Both Takom and MiniArt T4s might turn out to be only appropriate for SLA, not IDF. The DEF Tiran conversion is still allegedly available, but hardly anyone seems to have one. Plastic Hobby.com in Czech Republic claim to have one: LINK I guess I'd better hang on to mine for now. It is very nice, and it looks like I might still have need of it.

I may stand corrected, but AFAIK there were no 105mm on SLA Tirans, every Tiran sent to Lebanon forces was backdated with the 100mm gun. I still believe that the box-art doesn't show an accurate depiction of an IDF Tiran 4. I'm sure that Mr. Michael Mass can throw some light on this matter, let's be patient to see if he comments about this release...

Peter, I think the Tiran in the first picture is based on the T-55, and still with the 100mm gun. Maybe it's a Lebanon tank? I saw that DEF set, but I have concern for the payment side of things. I don't think they take PayPal. I agree with Hugo, but while it is not the IDF Tiran 4 I want to have, it is 95% of what I need to build one.

Well there were many types of Tiran 4. In this case it looks like they copy the Latrun M Tiran 4 one to one, with its 100 mm gun. There is nothing wrong with that but it limiting the representation to single or very limited number of such tanks that used by IDF. Is the 105mm the only thing that would need to be changed? Is the correct 105mm gun available in some other kit ? / Robin

From the cover art of the areas that can be seen it looks that they include everything that is on the Latrun tank, thus yes the change of the gun and adjacent of its dust cover will be the only thing (BUT than the internal storage and ammo racks will be not exactly accurate). Any after market 105 mm gun will work or from other Israeli tank kits that had the 105 mm gun, They copy so well that they also add things that dont need to be there and are artifacts!!!!! For example on the front the folding stretcher is not accurate and some metal stripes that were welded by the Museum crew to prevent the steal of the stretcher were incorporated to the kit.
