We've just been sent details of Mig Productions latest releases which apart from the products we have come to expect from this company, contain a number of new products which will truly help to make life just a little easier for the modeler.
Beginning with the Figure Releases, two interesting and diverse subjects in 1/35th scale:

MP35-286: U.S. Marine Officer (11€) This figure formed part of the recently-acquired Think-One-Eighty Studios range. The figure is one of those which will find a place in any diorama within Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo or anywhere where the USMC are currently deployed.

MP35-287: German Casualty (11€) Another of the Company's 'in-house' sculptings this figure portays a German Casualty suitable for any mid/late-war scene.

Next up are new vehicle releases in 1/35th scale in the shape of two Full-Kits:

MP 35-290 - Nun-Nun M325 Command Car IDF (Mid production) with Photo-Etch Brass

MP35-291 - Nun-Nun M325 Command Car Lebanese / IDF (Early Production) with Photo-Etch Brass (87€)

Apart from the subject itself, perhaps the real innovation is demonstrated with the Photo-Etch which, like the previous kit, requires NO cutting from it's fret. Instead, the PE comes attached to an adhesive backing - without connectors! As many tiny brass parts are easily bent, damaged or otherwise destroyed in the removal process, this system ensures that the sheet can be used without 'nervousness'!

Finally, Mig Productions have been gradually expanding their range of washes etc. for actually finishing the model. The company have announced some extremely interesting new product lines in the 'finishing department':

P249 - Pigment Fixer This liquid has been designed for modellers who desire more 'bonding' of the Pigments they apply to their models, dioramas and vignettes. This liquid can be added to the model first by brush before applying the pigments. It can also be mixed with the pigments prior to being brushed onto the model

New Washes Range:

As with the filters the modeler will no longer need to question the paint-to-thinner ratio. Now bottles of pre-mixed washes for numerous types of finishes are available. Here are the first three:

P220 Dark Wash (5.50€)
For vehicles containing an allied green, panzer grey, German camouflage and most other dark colours.

P221 Brown Wash (5.50€)
For vehicles with a navy blue, light blue, dark yellow and light color camouflages.

P222 Neutral Wash (5.50€)
For vehicles with a light sand, red primer, light grey or winter camouflages.

Finally, something that has been needed to be released with a Specific modeling application:

ABT115 Liquid Mask (5.50€)
This Liquid Mask has been designed to be durable yet easy to peel from the model without damaging the paint. This product can be used to help create a number of finishing effects with your weathering, aid in the creation of complex camouflages, protect surfaces from overspray and yield sharp edges on vehicle identification markings.

As always, my thanks to Mig Jiménez and the team at Mig Productions for the images and details for this report.

Some great things again from MIG. I agree teh prices might seem hig, but if it lasts a while then it is worth it. I really like the idea of the PE parts not needing to be cut.

Have you brought a set of inkjet cartridges for a pc printer lately ? The quantity of ink, the number they must sell worldwide ....... I've heard it works out more expensive to buy than vintage champagne per cc !! Alan

I don't know how many people have actually spent time (and money) actually trying out different types of thinner for applying washes. I know I certainly have. At the last count i've got around 4-5 different brands and categories of artist's turpentine sitting 3/4 full on my workbench. You know what? It would have been great to have actually ordered ONE single product which worked in the first place rather than pissing about trying out different combinations. So, I totally applaud MIG for bringing out products for a specific purpose. I like their weathering powders, I like the company's continual innovation and I like the philosphy of marketing products which save time and actually WORK. I'm also pretty sure that given the time (and suitable stores) I could find a suitable variation of powdered chalk to replace my weathering powders. Since a jar of MWP. which lasts ages, only costs around 3 Euros, you'll forgive me for not bothering. Life is far too bloody short. So, keep these ideas and products coming - innovation is ALWAYS welcome...

Hello Everyone First of all thank you for the postings with your thoughts. Mig Productions would also like to thank Armorama for their continued support. What we are trying to do with some of our items such as the filters and washes is save time for the modelers. As Jim mentioned above, I have also had to purchase and experiment with different turpentines and other enamel thinners until obtaining something I was comfortable with. I imagine that it would be more difficult for someone with limited modeling experience particularly if they did not know where to look. I do remember getting many questions regarding the thinner I was using. Please send me an E-mail with any thoughts or questions you might have. Thank you Adam Wilder Mig Productions Staff [email protected]

Well I was unaware that people had problems with this (the wash thinner thing) i must have been lucky to find a good brand right off the bat then don't get me wrong, I had no intention of talking badly about mig productions, i really like their line of pigments too. My first post may have sounded a bit harsh but that was not my intention. afterall i'm not a native speaker, so please forgive me any rudity in the post, i didn't mean to sound like that

Hi guys, Last week i've bought the 3 new washes directly from Mig Productions and i've tried the first one on a M-929 Dumptruck. What a effect !! Quite good !! As Jim Rae states, i've also had a hard time finding the good combination of washes. Some times my model turned out like a shining race car instead of a AFV !! NO PROBLEM NOW !!!!! Keepup the good works !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gé Hovens

He does make some great stuff. And heck he has to make a living at it. Now you should see the price the LHS sells it for not to many takers I grant you. Except one or two. Keep up the good work and maybe some Vietnam stuff or early desert Storm stuff ,Korean war.

Nice stuff Mig, keep it coming. As far as the PE goes, I recall that this was the way it was done by a PE manufacturer for aircraft who's name I can't remember (Fotocut maybe?). It's not so much as an innovation as getting back to the way it was before the current practices of pinning the parts to the fret with those annoying little stubs. Good show....! (Eduard, Aber, Lion Roar et al.... are you listeneing?) Bob

Heh, I couldn't imagine a full set of Voyager fenders, hinges, and clamps without having to cut those suckers off the 'sprue' Great stuff as always Mig!
