Dnepromodel starts big this year with a model of a large Italian naval gun employed as railroad-based artillery.
The Cannone Navale da 381/40 was originally intended to arm the Italian Navy’s Marina Francesco Caracciolo-class battleships. It is believed about 24 guns were produced. However as the ships were not completed, the guns were instead diverted to other uses. Seven of these were transferred to the Army and deployed as railway guns. Measuring 24.5m long, the gun and its mount weighed 212 tons. It fired high explosive shells weighing 730kg and 876kg, as well as 885kg armor-piercing shells.
Dnepromodel’s Italian 381/40 Railway Gun (35111) is offered as a full resin kit.
