Everyone looking at the photos can decide for themselves. I'm assuming Rebecca paid a "Sculptor" for creating kits based on original ideas, not to copy the shape and layout of my kits, but change a detail and make them a smaller scale. The stepped stone wall along one side of the desert base has stones stacked directly on top of each other, as my original kit does. Something I made up and not likely found in real world construction. That's not coincidence. The bending stone slabs on the opposite side don't happen in the real world and that's sculpting that could have been done better. I've looked at her website and she has a lot of other bases that don't relate to any of my kits but even her Rutted Road base is very similar to my Sunken Road, except proportions being changed, which isn't the first time that kit has been copied by another company. If the consensus is that changing the scale of a kit isn't copying another companies ideas, at least I would appreciate people contacting me beforehand and talking about their plans. Collaborations are possible and the finished product would look better. There's plenty of room in the market for many resin companies and there should be enough original ideas at hand for "similar looking" products to never occur, even by accident. Or maybe HQ72 would be flattered if I reproduced their destroyed cathedral facade at 1/35 scale, only changing a few details. Mike

Those are not "copies" of your products. You should really concentrate on your own business and life instead of telling others how to live, think and from making "false" accusations of someone copying your items. You are being a little full of yourself if you believe someone has to get your permission or check with you to create an item that's similar to a previous scale or design. Those items may have been somewhat "inspired" by your 1/35th designs but they are NOT COPIES. If they were "copies" they would be direct reproductions of your items and illegal if you had a copyright to them. Instead they are somewhat similar but with different features, size and details. The "sunken road" in 1/72 scale just like the 1/35th scale version of the item may be similar and somewhat inspired by your "small" 1/35th scale Sunken Road design and photos of the French countryside. The 1/35th scale version you call "a copy" is actually 100% bigger and better than your smaller design with much more detail on the walls and base. You should be "flattered" that you have inspired others to create items which are a different version and size of some of your designs instead of constantly complaining about it and making "false" accusations about them copying your product. You should go ahead and design an item like the 1/72 scale Church base if you like, it will give modelers another item to enjoy and paint/display their products on. Peace......

When I saw the word copy I was purely thinking of a 1 to 1 one might see on say Aliexpress. I don't disagree with the principle but this hobby is full of folks in one way or another not having original ideas. I feel that because of the way our hobby is, changing scales does make a difference but I can understand your point of view. In my mind, that would not be an issue. However I think that might make us both hypocrites given the above.

Totally right on your comments. Someone is being a little full of themselves if they think a person has to "check" with them before they create an item or idea similar and in a different scale of an item they previously released. If that was the case and no one would still be doing 1/35th scale Tiger I/E's after Tamiya came out with the idea of releasing the first kit. There would not have been any other planes after the Wright Brothers, no other cars after Ford's Model T. People need to get a life and not make "False" statements about someone else copying their products. I for one welcome the 1/72 scale bases "inspired" by the previously released 1/35th scale versions. It gives modelers of that scale another item not previously available on the hobby market.

So go ahead and create one, I would buy one ASAP.

However a new design from MP, I think would be welcomed by modelers.

I'll say this, I never heard or bought anything from MP Studios before today. I build mainly 72nd and 48th(and a some 35th scale)armor so how could I copy his stuff if I never seen his stuff?? You sir just need to worry about your company and not mine. I will continue to produce 72nd scale bases and help fill a void that needs filling.

I am worried about my company. That's why I pointed out what I think are inferior "versions" or "copies" of my designs, incorporating my layout of elements and sculpting details. You asked for proof and I provided it with photos of my products. What I worry about is that potential customers will mistake your work for my products. I don't want to have to explain in email or in person at shows, that the small scale bases you are producing, are not my products. You shouldn't want that headache either. It seems obvious to me that you wouldn't want to be confused with another brand as you try to create an identity in the marketplace and grow your business. Why would anyone running a business want to create products that are so similar to something existing, either on purpose or by sheer coincidence? You say that you don't know about my company and I certainly believe you. But whoever did your sculpting knows my products. And if you are the sculptor, having never seen my products, aren't you as surprised as I am that you could come up with something completely in your head that happens to be so similar to 3 of my designs? Shouldn't a coincidence like that be discussed via emails or forums and be something to wonder about, instead of you being mad at me for pointing out obvious similarities? I worry about why I would going forward, take the time and energy to create more unique vignette bases for my company in 1/35 scale, if other companies are going to use my compositions as reference for their "versions" in a different scale. Maybe some people reading this will roll their eyes and decide this is a private squabble and that they shouldn't have to read arguments between people. I'm not trying to argue, just point out what is obvious and ask that anyone offering model kits of any scale, any subject, please be original and do the hard work of creating your products that look unique in the marketplace. Not just change scale and "details" and think you are filling a need. Our customers deserve better. Mike
