Actually I am I put that news story up while I could have been watching Peppa Pig with my daughter At the time Dean started his thread there were over a hundred views and no comments on the news story but there seemed to be no reluctance to comment on Dean's thread linking to PMMS. You may be right but I'm honestly puzzled as to why that should be, every news story gets posted to the forums, the front pages and the What's new page. There is also a Send us news button at the top of every news story we post. Is there any way we can make the news more prominent without taking out an ad on PMMS

Pat, I was a bit confused recently myself with all the talk about PMMS being a great news site, when (to my thinking) it has always been a great reviews site. After all using Terry's news page as a reference he has published about 150 news stories in 2009 (if that's correct), and we have published on Armorama alone over 400 during the past year. I think I know at least where I would go to find more news. But I may be biased. Jim

I've got the M5 enroute now. I may have to pick up the set for that and see how it works. The potential of the laser cut paper seems like it could be endless. I hope there is a lot more of this on the way.

Only speaking for myself here, (but i'm sure Pat's got the T-Shirt as well) as the time it takes to put together a News Story is considerable. Photo-editing, checking links etc. etc. all add to a process which can reasonably take 45 minutes. So, I trust you'll forgive our outbursts (or however you want to term them) as a few of us are getting a little jaded at the 'implication' (from a tiny handful) that we're somehow in a different 'division' to PMMS. We do things differently - not better, differently, in both News & Reviews. Different horses for different courses? Oh, and i'm a little confused by the term 'official' which was used. We DO News Reports based on company Press releases, Editorial doesn't follow any particular 'concrete' guideline - it's decided by Pat or myself depending on the story.

Pat, for the most part, I truly understand and agree with your point here. I can't, however, say why people don't simply refer to the What's New/News/Reviews section on the site for these types of information. My feeling is that, like anything else we modelers get excited about, it's just a knee-jerk reaction to finding something good and wanting to share it with ones fellow modelers. I don't think any of this is/was done on purpose (certainly not my intention when posting a link to PMMS) or to somehow endorse PMMS as being 'superior' to Armorma when it comes to news and/or reviews. Like I said above, I appreciate the hard work all of you put into this terrific site and believe me, your efforts do not go unnoticed. Cheers, Rob

I think calling this "paper" is a bit of an understatement. This looks like the pressure treated fiberboard found in a lot of electronics. It's tough stuff and should take paint like styrene. I have a set of each inbound from Hobby Search as soon as they're released. The SdKfz sets just can't be done in PE, and the CCKW grill just makes me smile when I think of the PE grill I DONT have to assemble 4 times over to get right.

I've been searching the web for 2 days about this stuff. It does need to be coated or primed before using water based paints. Here's the company quote - "This series uses compressed paper. Before separating parts from the sheet, please undercoat with non-water based paint or plastic cement. When using water based paint directly, there is a possibility of the paper becoming deformed due to excess wetness. When water in applied the paper becomes soft and able to bend. When dry, paper becomes firm into the shape that it was bent. File and putty is possible when dry." This stuff must be REALLY divine, or at least the company thinks so. "Kamizukuri" is Japanese for "created by Gods"!

I'm with you on that one. Someone asked if it would work for the slat armour on modern AFVs and looking at that GMC grill to me at least it looks ideal for that sort of thing. I think more importanly like a lot of the smaller resin manufacturers this sort of production lends itself to smaller manufacturers who just need the computer programme, material and laser cutter to be up and running. Yes I know, not a cheap toy, but considering how common they are here in small industries like boat building we're not talking major corporation type investment. **EDIT** - just looked into it and they start at around $3k USD here so definitely some potential there.

Nice idea but when you look up close it has a very grainy look and one can see creases in the bends on the light guards and grille, just like compressed paper would behave. It will be interesting to see wether it catches on and people buy it, cheers Bob.
