IPMS Open Sweden 2008
Although the quantity of actual models was down slightly from previous years, the attendance figures appeared to be as high as normal. Several related societies were in attendance and the sellers had their own hall, which allowed the visitors and competitors the space necessary to view the tables and models at their leisure, in the dedicated competition hall. Needless to say, the sellers were kept very busy on both days. The endless quest for bargains and ensuring the latest releases were purchased, kept many fully occupied. It was not long before windows needed to be opened up in the sellers hall, as the pace was quite hectic. Two days go by very quickly, when there is so much to do and see, all in the the delightful atmosphere of excellent models and friendly modellers.
A big addition to this year´s show were the seminars held on the Saturday. Janne Nilsson described the background and techniques used for his ”Sympathy for the Devils” shadowbox (Gold medal winner – Euromilitaire 2007), and Erik Gustavsson (PlasticWarfare.se) gave a very comprehensive talk on digital photography. Always great to get some insight and knowledge from those that can!
Although these images portray my own interests, a full gallery of all categories will be available in an upcoming edition of IPMS Stockholm´s monthly online magazine. Keep an eye out for it at ... http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/
Many thanks to Kai-Mikael Jää-Aro, for his help in filling out some gaps.
