After the first application of brown wash I applied another Kleer cote and played with the other Mig wash the Dark Brown. The next step was sealing all of this with a MM satin varnish (acrylic) which is my preferred one. In the next step I started applying self made filters / overall washes. I used few artists oils highly diluted with white spirit. I used the following colours: Dunkelgrun, Red, Yellow Napple, and Burnt Sienna. The green, yellow and red filters have been applied on the corresponding colours and the burnt sienna filter was used (in addition to the green one) on upper part of the hull.

After the extensive washes and filters it was the right time to start the chipping. The chips on the green paint were made with Vallejo Hull Red often on a lighter green base. Chips on the brown-red have been made with dark green paint to simulate the dunkelgrun base coming out. I used Hull Red and dark green paints to create chips on the yellow surfaces. The markings on the turret were also "damaged" with a green paint and a fine brush. Following a friend's idea I rusted the anti aircraft plates on the turret and on the engine deck. It was done with a paste made of Burnt Sienna oil paint mixed with some White Spirit and generously applied with a soft, round brush. When the paste dried rusty and dark earth pigments were used to finish up the look of the additional armor . The same mixture of Burnt Sienna and White Spirit was applied over the exhausts mufflers.
