AMPSEAST show report

  • move
Saturday morning came around, and once again I went down stairs to the show. Models were coming in, and the amazing volunteer judges were doing an outstanding job on keeping the models flowing through the judging process and into the display room. Jim Zilvtis was doing an excellent job at the computer, entering each piece, and keeping track of each models score, never leaving for two days except to use the restroom. Now that’s dedication to duty. Georg Eyerman did his usual outstandingly entertaining routine as Chief Judge. If you have never met Georg, he simply oozes his modeling enthusiasm from every pore. After another gig as a judge, and a little more time as ACJ, I finished taking my photos, and that little marl I placed the day before sure made it go faster the second day. I actually did manage to get at least one photo of each model, but of course not everyone was a keeper when it came to editing them. So please no hissy fits if your model was one of the unfortunate ones I deleted. It’s “just par for the course” and nothing personal.
I had a wonderful time at this year’s AMPSEAST Show. I was not only fun, but also probably one of the most relaxing shows I’ve attended this year. Matthew Toms, and the rest of the gang did an outstanding job to ensure this ran smoothly, and it certainly looked to me that everyone was really enjoying themselves. I’m certainly looking forward to next year’s show, which will also be two days.
Hopefully everyone will enjoy the photos.

About Dave O'Meara (Grumpyoldman)
FROM: FLORIDA, UNITED STATES

I'm rewriting this in a much more humoristic way, to help over inflate my ego, and place my self on a pedestal, because I don't have a life, and plastic models are the only thing I live for. I plead guilty as charged to excessive babble, light hearted humor, and continued encouragement to youngsters...

Excellent report Dave! I really appreciate the detail on how the show was running and the importance of the volunteer judges. Our AMPS chapter, Central SC, is planning our first show (a one day event) for July, 2011, so we're hungry for all the info we can get. This report will go into our file of AMPS show links for reference. Thanks again for taking the time to tell us all about the AMPS East show! Mike

Mike, Send me a PM with any questions you have about the contest. I've got a neat little MS excel file set up to handle the results tallying. Any other help I can give, I'll be happy to share. Regards, Georg Eyerman Chief Judge, IPMS/AMPS East
