Staghound Mk. III

final construction

The wheels come in 2 parts and can be made movable, however I found them too delicate and glued them to the axles. The fit is very tight and I recommend to dry fit them before assembly on the vehicle.

The front visors and the periscopes in the driver’s compartment can be positioned opened or closed and overall the detail of the driver’s roof is great.

Apart from that there are numerous small details on the hull such as tail and front lights, rear view mirrors, etc. The headlights have PE guards and there is a plastic part that is very useful to bend them into proper shape.

The turret is made up of upper and lower halves. The front armor plate, crew hatches, lifting hooks, periscopes and antenna mounts are all provided as separate parts. The gun and MG mount are movable after assembly and be sure to use the proper barrel. I replaced the plastic BESA MG with a metal one from RB model (1.5 Euro) for better detail.

The only flaw of the kit that I noticed is the absence of weld seams on the sides of the hull in the areas where the driver’s roof and front armor plate were attached. To replicate that I made small grooves, filled them with Tamiya glue and added a rod made from heated sprue. After that I imitated the weld seam with a hobby knife.
