At this point the model was approached from 2 different perspectives:
1. Is to tie all elements of painting and weathering together in such a way that all elements of chipping, streaking, dust, dirt, & mud are logical in relation to other areas of the vehicle and logical in over-all appearance.
2. Is to consider how I would like the final over-all appearance of the model to present itself. Once again, this is not a linear process in the sense that one can move through an orderly process 1 – 100 and end at step 100 with a complete and finished model. The complete opposite is true! At this stage I moved back and forth from chipping, adding washes, dust, dirt, & mud, as well as touch ups to any effect & area that has wondered away from the desired final result.

final thoughts

Opening yourself up to walking away from the idea of a “correct” linear process used to achieve a desired end result can be extremely helpful and liberating. However, there must come a point where we are finished and walk away from the project considering it complete! This can be the most difficult stage as there is always one more thing that can be improved. However, by calling a project finished, we can move on to our next new and exciting project! And that one last step can be brought with us and applied to our next project. This is how the learning experiences of each project will transfer and show through in our your ever improving work!
