Stage Five
This is an easy stage as it is where the wheel units are attached to the hull, and as there are good connection points it is simplicity itself. Just make sure you get inner, middle and outer wheel units in the correct places.

Stage Six
By this stage you know you have crossed a hurdle as this is where you add the tracks to the model. The model requires 62 links for each track length, and despite each track link having five connection points, clean up is an easy task to complete. The only difficulty you’ll encounter is keeping the links together while you apply the glue, as the connection point is quite loose. The track links are very well scaled down replicas of the real links, the pattern being accurate, and the only imperfect part being the guide horn, which should be hollow, with an opening at the front and rear; the indent for this is indicated, but solid. If you wish to save yourself some work, you can get away with making up a length of track that goes from the top of the idler, around to the ground, and then up onto the top of the drive sprocket; this will reduce the number of links needed to about 39.

Darren: Nice review. Any overall shots of your build? Or is it too big to fit in the camera frame?

Thank you for your comment Zon and I wish I could provide pictures of the finished vehicle, It was when I was bringing the finished painted model down stairs that a combination of stairs, cat, and gravity came together with a less than pretty result.

Ouch!!! Sorry to hear that. Perhaps a "What-if?" with battle damage is in order then? Bummer. Happy Modeling, -zon

I will simply say that you are not the only one who has had this problem during this time of year. Thanks for what the great notes that you have been able to put together for the build, it would be nice to be able to download them in a compressed file or pdf. Perhaps your experience would provide adequate justification for obtaining a new Tortoise? Perhaps wishful thinking, but it's worth a shot

I am afraid it was well beyond economical repair and so I saved some parts the rest was binned.
