the people
While official statistics were not available during the preparation of this feature, casual observations and comments were offered to this writer by a few show officials. According to one show official, approximately 400 models were entered, while another was quoted as saying by his count, there were 450 entries. These two also estimated that there were between 150 and 175 entrants. Speculation as to the number of visitors that attended the show weren’t available. However, this writer observed that the two normal parking lots used for the show were insufficient for the attending crowds. The CWHM had to use their extensive tarmac in front of their hangars to accommodate the overflow. It was also suggested that perhaps this was a reflection of the relatively decent weather that day, as opposed to the messy days they’d seen in previous years.

CWHM’s uk tour
Of particular interest to those interested in military modelling is the fact that he Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum were pleased to announce that they will be flying their prized Avro Lancaster to England this August for a month long visit. The Lancaster will join the only other airworthy Lancaster in the world, owned and operated by the Royal Air Force's renowned Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF), and participate in several events and activities while overseas. Further information about the tour can be found at CWHM Lancaster UK Tour.

My thanks to the various members of the show for assisting in the preparation of this feature.

About Jan Etal (tread_geek)
FROM: ONTARIO, CANADA

I've been building models since about age 10 with the occasional hiatus due to real life events. First armour model was a 1/76 Airfix Tiger I and was followed by a 1/72 Revell F4U Corsair. I've built primarily 1/76 and 1/72 armour and aircraft but occasionally have tinkered in other larger scales....

Comments

I really wondered if there might be something about this show and am happy to see you guys fulfilled my hope. There was so much to see that I'm sure that I missed a lot. To Jan, I hope you did well as I didn't stick around for the awards (it was just so long a day). I saw several of your builds on the table and I have to say that they were better in person than your posted images here. I also have to say that the Braille, monster gun I saw blew my mind! All in all, the small scale kits were in many ways superior to their bigger cousins. Regards, AJ

@firstcircle -Matthew, Thank you Matthew for editing and getting this feature up. @weathering_one -AJ, Thanks for the compliments and glad that you got to the show. Yes, it can be a bit of long time but it might not seem so if you had entered something. The monster gun you mention is a Hobby Boss "Gustav" 80cm railway gun and was built by a member of my local club. It took the fellow a little over a year to build and I believe he mentioned that the kit contains 2000 or more parts. He got it from a mail order place out west for a little under $200 (MRSP is $325). We can consider ourselves lucky to have seen it because he doubts it will be entered in too many shows as it's just too big and unwieldily to transport. Cheers, Jan
