The Field of Silence

The intro and story
‘The field of silence’ is a diorama with a WW1 theme, an old abandoned battlefield with a German trench, pillbox and a British Mark V tank (male )somewhere on the western front. The tank was knocked out in front of the parapet of the trench during an attack on the German lines in 1917.

Since then everything has been forgotten and remained untouched, until some years later a historian with a great passion for painting, is exploring the field and tries to unravel the mystery.

The kits
  • EMHAR Mark V (Hermaphrodite conversion in to a MALE tank)
  • The pillbox and barbed wire are Verlinden items
  • Items from ICM (machineguns)
  • Items from Dragon Models are from my spare box (helmets and boots)
  • Sandbags and pickets from Italeri
  • Foliage, branches from Joefix studios
  • Micro flocks from Bush
  • Figure from Victoria models
  • The dog and chair are Tamiya items
Scratch build
  • Balsa wood was used for the dugout and support in the trench, self-made corrugated sheet
  • Evergreen styrene strips for creating the easel
  • Small papers on the ground below the easel are from Reality in scale

Hi Kurt, great job. I like the diorama and the story as well. This is something not conventional. And the trench is so realistic. Great !

Hello Giovanni , thanks for the visit and yes it's not a conventional diorama but you can make anything with a lot of inspiration . And i'm clearly not the only modeler on this forum who thinks that way . Thanks for the compliment ! Cheers Kurt

very amazing diorama; excellent work! a lot of people don't realize it was many years till some of the WW1 fields were cleared; even today human remains and equipment, ammo, etc. still turn up near the Somme, Verdun, etc. very good work

Thanks guys for looking in ,still today people are dying mostly farmers in an explosion when they are plowing their land . It is a sad legacy of the Great War.. Let's hope that a mass slaughter of young people on such a large scale never occurs in the future......but sadly mankind is destined to forget the lessons from the past, thanks again Brian. Thanks Romain for the support and your eagle eye during the whole build . Much appreciated m8 ! Cheers Kurt
