1⁄35Churchill Oke

The Oke first appeared in May 1942 and was the brainchild of Major J.M. Oke, after whom this Mk.II Churchill version was named. The conversion consisted of Ronson flame throwing equipment with a fuel tank mounted on the rear with an external pipe leading to the front fixed angle mounting with the BESA MG remaining in its original place.
Tintagel, the subject of this build, was originally assigned to 10 Troop, 'B' Squadron, 48th Batallion, Royal Tank Regiment prior to being transferred to the Calgary Regiment for the Dieppe Raid where it was renamed BOAR.
The base kit used was AFV Club's Dieppe Raid Churchill with ITA providing the conversion parts required along with a Voyager PE set. While the turret was nicely cast, the flame throwing equipment was not so I ended up scratch building all of those parts myself. The vehicle was painted in SCC2 Brown using a Mike Starmer mix and weathered with the usual mix of oils, enamels and pigments.
As Tintagel was based in England at the time and would only have been used in training exercises rather than combat, weathering on the vehicle was restricted deliberately to dirt/mud./dust without and chips/scratches etc.

Gary-- Well done, can you describe the method used to gain the rust coating on the mufflers? Thanks

Nice work Gary, I really like your SCC2, did you do a lot of fading? When I tried that mix, it seemed much darker, I'm not sure if I got it right.

Beautiful build Gary! Just the right amount of weathering and -thankfully- a minimum (any?) rust. Looking forward to seeing more!
