1⁄35The Pursuit

Aleksandr presents his 1/35 diorama "The pursuit" with a red tachanka, somewhere in Southern Ukraine, Russian civil war, autumn 1920.
A tachanka was a horse-drawn machine gun, usually a cart or an open wagon with a heavy machine gun installed in the back. A regular civilian horse cart could be easily converted to military use and back. The use of tachankas reached its peak during the Russian Civil War (1917–1920s), particularly in the peasant regions of Southern Russia and Ukraine, where the fronts were fluid and mobile warfare gained much significance. With up to 4 horses abreast pulling a tachanka, it could easily keep up with cavalry units and support them with mobile firepower.
Kits used:
- tachanka - upgraded resin kit from Modelstroy,
- figures – conversion of different kit from ICM, heads from Hornet;
- horses - upgraded kit from Masterbox (8th Pennsylvania Cavalry);
- Machine gun (ICM+Tank);
- styrene plastic Evergreen, brass and copper wire, soldering ;
- paint from Tamiya, Vallejo, etc.

Brilliant work and subject. I want to try something like this with early Great War subjects. You have giving me some inspiration for future work. Thanks for sharing.

Extraordinary! Some of the best if not THE BEST - face painting I've ever seen! The composition and sense of dynamism is incredible. Some day I hope I am even 1% as good a modeler as you.

Truly beautiful work. You almost feel like you are riding along with these guys.
I am wondering how good the original wagon kit is. I have never heard of Modelstroy. I would like to pick one up.
Again...fantastic work on this vignette.
