I'm doing the officer (probably meant to be Romel) from the CyberHobby DAK Kubelwagon kit. They call for "RAL Grey 02" for his jacket, which I've tracked down to be rather dark green-grey. The image on the box shows a very, very light grey, almost off white.
Which do you suppose would be better?

Some Afrika Korps officers, including Rommel himself, demonstrating that 'uniform' is a relative term when it comes to colours. Some are in the olive-coloured tropical uniform, others look like they're in field grey.

Some tropical uniforms were delivered in a tan khaki shade (particularly those issued to the Luftwaffe), but the official Heer warm weather uniforms were reed green cotton, and it appears that most of the tropical uniforms were also delivered in that shade. However, the combination of sun, heat and salt from perspiration bleached most uniforms items nearly white in short order.
Field gray wool uniform items were always near at hand, by the way, as temperatures dropped near freezing at night in the desert.
