Hi there;
I'm thinking of using Warriors' British Tanker figure for my Centurion Mk11 LR.
It's this one here:
I know that Canadian crews wore this suit for many years after the war (possibly into the late '70's), I'm just wondering if it would be appropriate to leave the web belt on. I've carved away the holster and lanyard, but taking the belt too would mean modifying the figure more than my skills may allow. Also, I'm reasonably sure the Canadian suits were more of a tan colour but I don't know for sure. Did we make our own or buy British-made ones?
Anyone shed any light please?
thanks;
Bob

Couldn't comment on Canadian suits, but the British one was far browner than your picture suggests.

Thanks, I thought so too. The pic I posted is from the Warriors box top, not my paint job.

Bob,
First, the Pixie suit would not be suitable for your 1970s Canadian Centurion Mk.11LR. The suits were phased out in the late 60's..they were WWII vintage.
The standard combats were worn in the 70s.
Second, The Pixie suits were the same as the British/Commonwealth ones from WWII. I have never seen the web belt worn with the suits. The suit had a narrower waist belt built in. They were the same dark tan colour as the WWII suits. The photo Dave posted of the real suits is what they looked like.

Cool, thanks guys..... I'll save him for a '60's Mk 3 or a Mk 5 then.

Yup, the figure will be fine right from the Mk.5....Canada didn't use the Mk.3...up to the 4 colour cam patterned Mk.11LR in the late 60's.
I actually used the Ultracast figures in Pixie suits on my 4 colour Mk.11LR...there are Ultracast Pixie suit figures that don't have the web belt.

Well don't forget that it may look "browner" but the actual dye lots did vary depending on when or where the suits were made...

True, the colours on the suits faded and darkened with age and wear and tear. These things were WWII vintage being used 20 years after they were made.
It comes down as usual to what the modeller finds they like as a colour. To each his own.
