Everybody is going to laugh but no kidding my favorite tank is the M3 Stuart. I grew up in the 60s when they had a comic book called GI Combat. It was about a Stuart tank commanded by Lt Jeb Stuart and was haunted by the ghost of General J.E.B. Stuart. I loved that comic book and always liked that tank. Before anybody jumps on me I know it was total fiction, espcially how every German tank was a Tiger and the Stuart's little 37mm could penetrate them at will.

We've run this one up the flag pole before, my answer remains the same, the M3 Lee because it was the tank that bridged the "land battleship" concept with the modern tank of today. I also have an affinity for the MBT70, a cool concept idea that just had too many innovations in it to work.

I would probably have to go with the Sherman just because of all the cool variants. As far as a particular variant, I'll go with the Easy Eight, or maybe the Firefly.

The Panther. The Germans took their Blitzkrieg tanks to Russia and got schooled, so they went back to the drawing board. Wow. What a tank. The US came to Europe and German crews actually felt sorry for Sherman crews. We got schooled, and we decided to build more Shermans.
Plus the Panther is just gorgeous...

Aesthetically the Stalin tank series (be it IS-1, Is-2 or -3). There's something about those long 122mm guns, sloping armour and the generally weary looks those tanks sport.

Jagdpanther...thick armor, great slope, NASTY gun, and reliabilty of the Panther sorta like an A-10 Warthog...it'll get you there, you'll kick ass, and then have the opportunity to leave and fight again

How about the T-34? Nasty surprise for the Germans, wasn't it?
All the Panther lovers won't admit it, but that tank's design was largely based on the T-34 (which, of course, was based on tank designs by American Walter Christie). Legend has it that Guderian wanted to copy the T-34 outright, but Hitler would have nothing to do with reproducing an "inferior" country's design.
The T-34 had lots of design features that are still used in tank design today -- low profile, "dead track" (no return rollers), rear drive, diesel engine, sloping armor ...

For me there is not just one answer possible... so also not one tank
Every tank kit I make I grow a sympathy for.. I really loved building Stugs (4 of them), but I also love the PZKFW 3 and 4. I like almost all WW2 german armor and a little bit Allied or Russian. But if I had to go for a single one then it would be the Stug in all it`s variants. why... Big guns, low profile, really effective, always surrounded by many men (assault support vehicle) so a crowded dio with a Stug is always good and lovely to see. and there were a lot built and a lot variants available.

I have to admit my favorite is the M3 also. There is something historic yet modern. It's almost delicate in appearance yet brutishly strong looking. It's kinda like a Pug in tank version.

Hey! I loved that comic, too! I couldn't wait for each month's copy to hit the newstands. That and the one that always featured Marines in the South Pacific coming across lost herds of living dinosaurs that time forgot.

My favorite tank, model wise, is the next kit I buy. Ha! As far as real AFVs goes, I really don't have a favorite, per say. They all had/have their good points and bad points.
Take care, sgrity :-)

I have to go with the BT (specifically the late BT-7). Like Hollowpoint was saying the T-34 inspired most of today's tank design and it was based on the Christie. Well the Christie became the BT. The BT was the father of all future Soviet tank design. Isn't it ironic that the BT was almost completely designed by an American?

I know it never saw action but I would go with the German Maus. Size does matter.

No votes for the M1? I particularly enjoy them, being infantry, when that turbine fires up, stand about 25-30 feet behind it on a cold morning....warms the soul. too close though, and your BDUs melt to your skin!
