Another newbie question..historically what was the white wash used for?
Is it for camoflauge? I am just wondering because you can still see the green paint underneath? Was that the point?
Sorry if these questions seem simple.
Thanks

P.S. very nice looking model by the way. Very inspiring.

Yes, during periods of consistent snow cover in winter.

Well, whitewash didn't really stick to the vehicles very well and some units weren't terribly thorough in its application, so you have a combination of things that contribute to the whitewash being more or less transparent. It depends upon the specific tank at a specific time. Some were very white and were maintained tha way. Some were barely whitened at all, Some were mostly white with broad swaths of OD left to break up the outline. Many variations so photos are the best way of capturing a specific look.

Well, the question is simple, but not dumb. As has been said may tiems before, theree's no such thing as a dumb question. If you don't know something, it's dumber not to ask.Sorry if these questions seem simple.

Samuel, looks nice
Good job on the mud and the whitewash. It will look even better when you blend it in with the ground work in your diorama.
Some like a heavy coat of whitewash and others dont. Well, practically anything goes as the whitewash was often worn of by the use of the tank, applied sparingly, simply washed of during spring from weather etc.
Thanks for sharing
