Of course, you do realise that you'll have to paint the end of the barrel dayglo orange if ever you want to take it out in public.

Hey -- if you get this finished within this quarter you can submit it for the MOQ on MG - It totally fits the Rail Road theme.

That thing is a monster. I like seeing the Tiger next to it for scale.
Men could actually crawl inside the bore fo the gun to clean it. It was one massive waste of men, material, and money. but still an amazing piece of harware.
Can't wait to see everything done.

S'cuze my ignorance, but what's the MOQ on MG? (Asking 'cause I have an interest in 1/35 railroad subjects).

Thanks for the info. I'm working on a WWII German railyard dio that probably won't be finished until next summer (no room to airbrush right now), but I'll be watching this with interest.
Anyway, before I hijack this thread.........Kym, the Dora looks great so far. How the heck did you do it in about 70 hours? It would take me that long just to do the wheel trucks.

Barry,
I do not kid you when I say that this kit is one of the easiest kits I have ever built. Trumpeter's Leopold and Karl/ carrier were far more difficult and involved. Like I've said before, expertly engineered.

That Dora model is very impressive, congratulations, it really gets me excited and happy with the perspective of building myself one o those.
So I bought one too, and ordered the aluminium barrel also.
The thing that dissapointed me the most was the lack of decals on such an expensive model.
Can you help me with aftermarket decal info (I doubt there are any available) , and specially with any kind of reference books, that might feature the Gustav/Dora?
Thank you all

Very impressive Kym .... not only its shear size, but also the time it has taken you to put this together. Im building TristarŽs original Pzr IV D at the moment, and IŽll have approx 70 hours invested when its finished. Luckily you have the space for such a model as well. Nice one.

I just finished the first of the armoured/ artillery column passing the Dora.
The column will be stopped and the soldiers out taking photos, pointing talking, ect. The tank is a 1:35th Sd.Kfz.265 Kleine Panzerbefehlwagon by Dragon. Compared to the Tiger, it's like an armoured machine gun on tracks, tiny.
I'm still waiting on my order for the rest of the column to get here from the US.

Oops, you got a little dirt on the tank wheels there. HAHA, just kidding, love the thought of the column stopping to check out the Dora. I can imagine that anyone who ever saw such a thing in person would have been completely awestruck!
Thanks, Gary

Here's the latest addition to the halted convoy. Both the Leichte Zugkraftwagen 3t Sd.Kf & the FH-18 105mm Cannon are AFV. Details to both are yet to be added. More vehicles to come.

This is truly incredible (the kit & the real thing). Love the shot with the Tiger, really emphasises the Dora's bulk!

http://members.tripod.com/~fingolfen/superheavy/p1500.html I hope that link works. Check out the proposed tracked version.
Dora was one heck of a weapon, but it was a big waste.
I love the work up to this point and cannot wait to see more. Thanks for sharing!!

Well, I've assembled and painted 4 more units for the convoy.
Added are a Kettenkrad with a Puppchen ( Dragon), a StuG III Ausf B (Tamiya) and a sIG 33 Field Gun (Alan Models). All that's left is the
Sd.Kfz.251/4 Ausf C with a Lefh 18/40 (AFV). and as soon as they are built, I'll go back and detail the complete column. Then onto the 30 or so figures for the whole dio.
