Hi,
I recently bought eduards 'US insignia and medals WWII' PE set. I was hoping that it would have an instructions sheet identifying each rank and divisional insignia. To my disappointment, there was none.
I found a couple of reviews of it though, one at Historicus Forma, and this one calling out what's included: review
That was better, but without a picture, it's not a big help. I recognize 82nd and 101st airborne insignias, but not the others. So searching for reference would be mostly blind digging.
Could someone with more knowlegde help me out. What other insignias are there in the set, and which one is which?

As for unit insignias, The armored division ones are the 3 colored triangles, the numbers on them are armored divisions. 1 for the first, 6 for the 6th. THe one with a stripe and horses head is the 1st Cavalry . THe red arrowhead is the First Special Service Force which was made up of American sand Canadians. THe other badge that is green with a red one in the middle is the 1st Infantry, the Big Red One division. The one with a star and an indians head is the 2nd Infantry "Indian Head division". The other with a tiger leaping out of it with a yellow backround is the Tank Destroyer Force badge.
Now onto ranks:
Private is the one with one stripe
Corporal is two stripes
Sergeant is 3 stripes
Staff Sergeant is 2 stripes and then a third that forms an arc at the bottom
Technical Sergeant is the same as Staff Sergeant but there is one more stripe under the arc
Technician 4th Grade is 3 stripes, no arc, with a T at the bottom
Technician 3rd Grade is 2 stripes, a third with the arc and a T inside the arc
The Ranger badges should read: Number of battalion, 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th and then Ranger and then Bn.
The armbands are MP for MP, the Red Cross for medics and the Blue one is for Beachmasters assistant.
Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask more questions.

Thanks for the info.
After some searching, I did find an article on wikipedia about the rank insignias, but pointing out the unit badges is really helpful. Another site had info on the medals (on the fret, from left to right, purple heart, silver start, bronze star). I just don't get it why no info is provided with the set. Apparently the guys who designed the PE did some research on the subject, I assume?
While this pretty much clears up the set, there's one more thing. What's beachmaster assistant? Someone working under a beachmaster? What did they do, and of what rank where they usually?

Did your question get answered? The answers were god, but I don't know if the met you needs. BTW the staff sergeant is three up and one down, not two up and one down as previously stated. Typo I bet.
