Few minutes ago during latest TV news I saw M1A1 in very interesting camoufalge: base colour was green- but than thin lines of yellow paint was applied on it. Do you know sth more about this unusual camouflage?

We had some discussion about the Green Abrams a couple of weeks ago.. Apparently these are Marine tanks that were in storage. The green base coat is CARC, a protective paint. Maybe some crews got some time to paint desert sand stripes on their tanks once in Kuwait. Below is a picture of some Marine M1A1s being disembarked in Kuwait in January 2003:

The other thing I wanted to ask has to do with uniforms... I have seen that most of US soldiers wear woodland camo. Why is that? Why don't they use desert camo?
Many of the troopies deploying were never issued DCUs. There was a dood in a deploying unit that I talked to about two weeks ago that said there was a shortage of DCUs and there have been no work orders to get more made. A buddy of mine in SF said when he was in the desert in 91 they wore BDUs in northern Iraq. Not nearly as sandy as Kuwait/ Iraqi border. You also could be seeing the new MOPP Suit I don't know what the new one is called...the last version was the BDOG Battle dress overgarment. This replaced the CPOG (Chemical Protective Over garment) sometime in the middle 90s. Biggest difference is CPOG is OD and BDOG is Woodland.
As far as the Stryker is concerned, I haven't heard if the two operational SBCTs from Ft. Lewis have been deployed. I was curious, because of reports of airfield siezures by Rangers/82nd, wondering if the SBCT would follow on, and make their combat debut.
