Heres a conversion ive been working on for a while, some of you may remember me working on this a while back. Well I shelved it for a bit after I got fed up with it. Its Tamiyas M1025 as a base kit with scratchbuilt dumvee details-pressed steel cargo bay side panels, rear stowage tray, front winch and a super detailed interior. I did use Pro arts Humvee interior set for some of the details such as seats and roof details, but avoided using there Dumvee conversion as I had most of what I need and fancied a challenge, its missing a few things anyway. So heres some progress so far, ive added machne gun mounts, GPS antenna, spare eduard etch to detail the doors and the folded up screens stowed to the roof. Since these photos ive actually painted and started weathering it, so i'll take some pics of that today if I can.

Interesting build. I have a Dumvee on "the to do list", so please keep us updatet on your build.

The tarp around the Dumvee it is not plain like you represented but with some hole inside, it is a modern camo net.

The tarp ive have done is based on photos, I have seen pics of a vehicle with just a camo net attached. It may be that this tarp is some sort of cover for the camo net and the two are rolled up together, but he's some pics that show a set-up like mine:-






Another feature ive noticed is a lot of these GMV's dont have windshields fitted, that will be another feature of this model.

I posted this in Afghanistan HMMWV" yesterday and it shows that the tarp and the cammo are separate but attach to the same points.EDIT, let me take that back. I have found two pictures that show that the canvas appears to cover the camo fabric when stowed, see here.




I have another picture that shows the tarp extends over the entire roof with the hole for the weapons ring cut out.

Here is my Canadian "DUMVEE" in Afghanistan. Only had one pic for reference and it wasn't even in colour. I tried to match mine as best I could to that picture including the pose of the soldier. I think it turned out okay considering I built it in a week (still a record for me) and with so little reference. Nobody believed me at first that Canada had HMMWVs in Afghanistan. I had to show the reference image to convince them. I can't wait to see yours finished. Makes me want to build another one. You can never have too many.

Matt-Thats a neat Humvee you got there, looks cool. Impressive work considering it took you a week. This has taken me at least a year now on and off

William-Thanks for sharing some more pics! As you have said, it looks like the camo netting is rolled up inside the tarp. Id love to see some pics of you dumvee.
