If so many love the US halftracks, and everybody and their dog would buy one, why does nobody build them?

I think that was the point I was trying to make with THIS thread - thanks Frank

Maybe there ISN'T as much enthusiasm for the H/T as previously indicated although, the first News story on the release of the M2 , broke ALL records for 'Hits' indicating that there probably was a real demand for this vehicle.

no, it genuinely surprises me that we don't see that many as build, or BLOGs or submitted as features.

Probably, when I get back from my vacation, I'll think about something to inspire higher H/T content....

First: I didn't demand a US halftrack because I already have a pile
of the old Tamiya ones plus over 1400 unbuilt kits and too many
started ones.
I haven't bought any of the new Dragon kits, yet!, because there have
been too many other interesting kits first to squeeze into the budget
and the available kit storage.
But, I will buy a bunch of them as soon as I can though and they
might even get built in this century .......

Oh yes: I have to get my balcony roofed over and provided with
glass "walls" so that I can use it for airbrushing. My wife doesn't
like the smell and my 4-year old daughter shouldn't be inhaling
the fumes so I refuse to airbrush inside the apartment ....

I'm really excited at the new kits / conversions coming out, and I'm planning on getting one once I find a good price! ...and after I build the 3 SdKfz 251s in my closet...

I think a lot of guys are waiting for the M3 or M16. The M2 saw more limited use and I think that turns some people off.
I bought the M2 but I have a lot of things in front of it in line.
Mark Hazzard's Israeli M2 won Best Of Show at this years AMPS International show. There were quite a few of the new DML kit on the display tables.

I very rarely buy a new kit and push other things aside to do it, so ontil this summer the M2 has been sitting in the stash waiting to get build - its really a nice and straightforward kit to do.

I“ll submit it for the halftrack campain.

If you are holding onto your Tamiya kits thinking they are as good or better than the Dragon ... you are wrong. Tamiya got some things right, but Dragon got more, especially the suspension and tracks. Replace the Dragon tires with Tamiya. The unslotted screwheads suck, but could you really see them in 1/35th?

We'll see about Trumpeter, but I think Dragon is on the right (half)track.

I've got the Tamiya M3 and a 1:72 M3 finished, DML M2 in the works and am almost finished with a civilian Brush Track using the Tamiya M21 kit. I have the DML M4 on the shelf as well as the Tamiya M16 and M21 and a couple of 1:72 versions.
The Trumpeter 1:16 M16 is the one I really want but will believe it when I hold it in my hot little hand.
