hey boys,
got my first airbrush yesterday, a little $35 piece of junk from Hobby Lobby, just to see if i like it, and I was wondering whats the ratio of mixing your paints? Enamel/ thinner, M.M acryls/ water.... Mostly for camo patterns on A.F.V's and for misting. OH.. and its hooked up to a propellant can.(which im sure you cant control the air flow) and its a single action. I know, I like to make things hard on myself.
thanks,
-Ziggy

I would say there is no magic ratio because of the thickness of paint brands.
I would shoot for 70/30 or 80/20
You want to shoot for a thinnish consistancy about that of milk.

I agree with Scott; you want a consistancy very much like milk (that would be 2% by the way).
It is true that it really depends on the paint. Even with the same brand the consistancy of the mixture can vary. For instance, I have mixed some paints with 3 parts thinner to 1 part paint. But with another color a 1:1 mixture was fine.
A little experimentation will go along way. I have recently started using an airbrush myself. I primered a sheet of styrene (since I use acrylics) and just started spraying. Along with learning how to use my airbrush it also allowed me to find a good mixture for the colors I use most (Nato colors).
