You've made some great progress. I agree about the sign. It looks much more convincing painted on.

I haven't forgotten this project. I had my brother build a base for it in his wood shop so I had to wait for that to be done.
The base is thick and meaty trying to add to the overall impact of the diorama.

Scott, I'm impressed ! The scene is so typical European, the wall painting is fantastic and adds a lot of reality to this diorama. And I love all the other details, it's nice to discover the small things in it. G.

Hey Scott. Your brother did a great job on the base. Have you thought of how you would finish it? A stain or paint?
I'm also curious about the cobblestone street? I've never seen anything like this before.
No Frank, you're certainly not the only one. I have trouble remembering when I actually started my current dio. Been working on it (slowly) for at least ten months now.
Getting closer Scott

Thanks everyone, it's actually a bit comforting to pick up a project - feels like a pair or new socks.
The cobbles are from Kancali (www.kancali.com). Fantastic stuff to work with, easy, light, durable, great stuff.
With the base, I think I have to go with a paint. The wood is just MDF (manufactured stuff), I don't think a stain will work well with it, I'm going to go with a darker color. As I type this I got the idea of doing some type of faux wood finish. Add some sponge painting to a base of brown, then some light oil wash over it to give the impression of a stain.
The wall art was a ton of fun to do, almost like painting a decal on the building.

Scott, really great scene you have going.Super job on wall advert. Might be too late but I might suggest a beret on one GI and somebody with a liberated pair of nylon stockings Not really sure how that would be depicted, but it was a known treasure for trade during the war.
'Rodney' has to have a big fat stogey goin' too!
Cheers for liberation!

Scott,
I am new to this hobby and I wanted to ask you where you purchased these buildings. I am interested in using them in my own diorama.
It looks great,
Michael Dandron

Thanks guys.
I'm fixing the wall but past that I'm pretty 'done' with this one.
The buildings are one big kit from Custom Dioramics. You can get it from Squadron or Great Models and maybe others.
