Hello,

I'm looking for reference pictures of the Sherman Mk. V (M4A4) used by Royal Marines Armoured Support Group in Normandy 1944. They are basically those with fire-control markings on the turrent as shown on the Bison's decals sheet.

So far I was able to find only one - the front view of the "Fox". The same picture is shown in b&w on the decals instructions. The markings are not visible very well however.

Both online (preferably) and book hints will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

The same picture although much clearer appears in British Shermna Tanks by Dennis Oliver page 26 - ISBN 962-361-131-5.

There is also a colour plate on page 37 showing the side markings for the fire control, AOS etc.

I haven't got any other references I'm afraid.

Hope this helps

Ahh, that where the side markings for decals came from... Thanks Al.

One of the most amazing Sherman models I ever saw was "Fox" by a Korean modeller (I believe). He MASKED off the white tick marks and numbers. I wish I knew where he posted the pictures --- I've forgotten.

BTW, you wrote "turrent". It should be TURRET.
