Ola Everybody
As promised here are the new pics of my finished Stug 40 F from Revell. A couple of weeks work and finally she is completed. did some retouching of paint today, added some rain/rust streaks, added the decals needed, fixed the antennas, gave the tarp on the back a matt varnish layer as it was too shiny. Well that was about all I did to it.
The Hull is a little drybrushed but as it`s going to be in a dio with a very dirty road i will weather the hull later to match it with the dio`s groundwork
Here are the pics:
remember her?? she is finished now
some close-ups of the tarp on the rear deck covering the stowage
and some rainstreaks
there are more pics they can be viewed in this album
Any comments?? Questions?? Critics??? just ask or say it and I will answer it

Hi Faust
Generally it looks like a very nice job.
You have the air intake screens on the sides painted white. I think you need to make them look see through with a wash of some kind. Or paint them a dark color, then drybrush the grilles white. I guess that kit doesn't come with the PE screens that are in the DML version!
I like the detail on the hatches.

ROB what can I say. This is a fantastic job! So good that I rushed out yesterday after seeing the first pics you posted and ordered this kit to do as my first tracked thingy. Mind you I may forget and paint it OD! (hehehee) :-)

Very nice job on your winter camo....why are the inside of your hatches painted in dark yellow if the base coat is dark grey?? If the hatches are supposed to be the ivory interior color used by the germans ...well the would have the inside of the hatches painted the same color as the exterior... Really love the chipped paint effect!

Yup yup - another fine example of Faust craftmanship.
I love the read deck. The tarp is great - I'm going to try that technique. I like detail in the tie down, the rope is great.
Good job.

Thank you. It is pics like these that drive me. I have always wanted to "white wash" a Sherman or a Hummel and you have inspired me. Everything looks great. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Oh, and I LOVE the job you did on the tracks. Sorry I did not add that in the last post. I wouldn't want anyone to think that I was trolling for rank. Didn't we have a thread about that about three months ago? Hee Hee

Thanks for the comments guys
Bear
The colour I used is for the inside of the hatches is not yellow but a paint depicted as Sky. It`s a mix between70% white and 30% green And from what i read is that the germans used and the ivory paint and the Sky Paint.
The tank comes with the separate tracks and actually I always hated them but I read on the internet an article about how to do them easily and more important.... FAST I will look it up for you guys and I will post it here
Further thanks for the comments guys

Faust, that is a very nice Stug. I belive that you and Davidus both have some sort of machine that shrinks down the real thing to 1/35th scale. #:-) Very realistic.
The whitewash is very good, I love the chiping and fade of it to reveal the grey base coat. Very nice

Nasty looking beasty you got here Robert! I'd like to know how you did that very realistic paint chipping!

My "secret" to the paintchipping is......... rubbercement. It`s the glue that is used to stick photo`s into photoalbums. One advantage you have with this glue is that when it dries you can peel it off as it is changed in some kind of rubberlike substance.
What I did was first spray the basecoat and then apply the rubbercement at the places you want to get chipped. next you spray all the layers above and when the last layer is dried completely then you can peel off the rubbercement and the groundlayer appears.
Another good thing is that you can spot a place where rubbercement is added easily as it remains visible through the whole paintjob. Simplyrub over it with your finger and it comes loose.
Rubbercement is available at any art`s and crafts store
the smaller flakes were just painted afterwarths
hope it is of some help if you have more questions..... just ask

Thanks! I think I get it. Will try your method on my Brummbar next time. I think I'll paint it a metallic gray for the base coat though since I won't be putting winter camo on it.
