Great job thus far everyone!

I was on fall break and brought my first sherman down with me. I was about to start on her when I reached into my tool bag and felt a pinch. I forgot to cover my exacto knife and ended up with a bloody trip to the ER that culminated in several stitches and a very bad day...

I am out of commission for a few days, but I will start building as soon as possible.

Again, great job on those tanks!

Now my Leopard 1A4 is finished. A good kit that comes together very well without any major problems. Considering that the kit is from 1979 the level of detail is really good.
I noticed that I am the only one who has uploaded pictures in the gallery despite two other modellers have already finished their entries for this campaign. Remember to upload pictures of yor finished builds into the gallery.

It has been a joy to participate in this campaign.

Here are the pictures of my finished entry into this campaign:

I still can't decide if I want to do the more realistic brushed/washed style or the typical stylized airbrush shaded whitewash(which I kind of like personally) thats of the type seen on the box art build-ups. I really want to do up the CH PIV F-1 'vorpanzer' in this campaign. Smart kit too so it wont take forever and a day to build. Well, father and son builds are in final assembly and paint so its time to get some new stuff cut off the sprues...I think the vorpanzer add-on armor would look pretty cool done up in whitewash...

Edit: I think I am doing that one, stylized airbrush shaded whitewash, basic washes, and limited mud spray. I've been on a kick lately to do some models up 'old school' style and get away from all the 'modern' extensive weathering techniques. Time for a 'box-art' build!

I am working on two things, one smaller than the other, so here is my first entry. The figure was from Academy; the details werent very good (I think it was a very old kit that I got from a place in South Carolina.) so I kind of added -or tried to add- some detail to the coat. yes, I know it doesnt look very real, so those of you in the nitpicking part of the bleachers, hold your tongue. I traded the head out for A VLS head. the features on the original face were almost as bad as the Tamiya faces. Speaking of tamiya, the Kettenkrad was a tamiya product.

The snow is the standard mix of Elmers, water and a heaping helping of Woodland scenic snow. The trees are from a crafty type whisk broom I bought at Michaels arts and crafts for .99. When you take the broom apart, youve got enough trees for 100 dioramas, at least! The thinner branches also make nice thatch for straw roofed huts.

Just finished my Father and Son submission, and now time to look on the shelf for a special one for a winter paint job. Perhaps a T34.......

I'm in for this one,
Have a DML 1/35 Sd. Kfz. 251 Ausf. C (3 in 1 Kit) that i've just built up with the Pak 38 gun. However, I used a Humbrol spray tin for the dunklegelb coat and am not happy with the results, this was a clever idea so that I can use enamels to brush paint the interior details in the exact same colour - however, I should have used my airbrush and stuck with spraying acrylics!
Therefore a whitewash is looking like a great idea, and I have a certain technique i've been wanting to try for a while that i've seen done with excellent results. It certainly should look better than my last whitewash attempt where I just dry-brushed an Opel Mauliter!

I'll try and get some photos up of my work so far anyway, and i'll hopefully keep you posted with the whitewash technique I use so that you can see how it goes.

Some great work up on here so far, keep it up!

As promised, here are the pics of my progress so far.
I have pretty much finished all of the 'under whitewash weathering' as I intend to show a battered old 251 (being an Ausf. C at the end of the war it would have to be!) and so have dinged it up with the intention that the chipped whitewash will show the battered dunklegelb coat underneath. Havn't finished adding stowage, and the tarps need painting......

Hope you like, would appreciate some feedback!

I think you have archieved what you wanted. This one definently looks used and battered - especially the front wheel. Very realistic and good effects.

Is this modelled based on a reference picture? I seem to remember having seen this vehicle in a B/W picture and/or on a colour plate......

Looking forward to see more.

Thanks Jesper, glad you like it, i'm finally getting my chips how I want them. Well spotted on the front wheel, thats more of an accident than deliberate (rough handling broke the front axle!), I have now done some work on it so that they look more alike.

This is not based on any one vehicle in particular, its kind of turned into a bit of an excuse to try out some different painting and weathering techniques for me, and so i've taken hints from a few different AFV's.

Thanks,

James

Welcome to White -Washed Campaign Michael. Nice, clean build so far. Maybe you don't have to wait until Christmas, why don't you try another paint. I use Testor's Acrylics and I think they are excellent.

As for my German T-34 I finally managed to start the build this weekend. Wheels and lower hull are finished. Track links are cut out from sprue and ready for filling pinholes and/or sanding. 162 links, 2 pin marks on each link

Yea I have the Testors MM Acryl versions of the same colors and they look just as good as the tamiya stuff. The dunkelgelb is just a touch less yellow but no two tanks should be the exact same color anyway.
