well I'm a little late in commenting on this but, you know what they say, better late then never! This is a real monster and looks damn good. I would not like to try building it as I am sure I could not do as good a job. As for maybe getting one 100% right - I doubt that I ever will. Good one mate :-)

Nice photo, but believe me (and other old tankers can testify), one headlight is silver (just like your car's) and the other is a dark red that looks like black glass (it is acutally just a colored lens that fits over another headlight). We've been using the same headlight pairings for about 40 years or more (with the exception of the M1 that doesn't have dual headlights). Most of your minor detailing can be drawn from photos of M48 tanks since they were designed together and have a lot of components in common. Don't take my observations as criticism in your building skills. I think you did an outstanding job. It is your tank and you can paint it any way you want and I am sorry I started this controversy. I'm done in this thread. Feel free to accept or ignore any anything I've written.

This one was just before my time I guess ! Steve this is one of my favorite all time tanks . Back in the day my old tank unit was asigned to these beasts , I just can't find any of the oldtimers that remember them . This is one of those kits that I wish some one would do in plastic . Well I wish that it had been more fun to build ( I read the review in MMIR - same story as yours word for word ) . This is a awesome tank from one end to the other , the dry-brushing really makes the weld seams stand out . The only thing I see to fix would be to re-place the antenas with thicker wire (if you need some I have a spare strand or 2 ) I also agree get the lenses right (j/k)

Nice job! I really like the paint job...the shading makes the OD look really great.

Great build sir. Grats for keepin your nose to the stone. I've had a few like that as well. I like your painting technique, but YUK on the casting of parts. Knowing that this kit wasn't cheap , I also would not be not satisfied of it. But hey whay can we do?.
It may be a dead point now but the Hunnicutt book "Firepower" covers the tank in detail. I always wanted to add the M103 and the other Behemoth with the dual tracks to my collection as well. But I know it will never happen.
I think the color looks really good even in the overcast light, it deffinately gives the
SOLID cast look appeal. Take a Bow !! it looks GREAT.
