Not sure what scale you have in mind, but you could try this guy in the UK:

He specialises in World War 1, and his figures are excellent.
Andrea Miniatures also do a series of WWI figures, though personally I'm not too keen on them (mostly very static, and with oddly-sculpted faces).
Hope this is a start for you.

thanks Steve, oh i forgot to say it is 1/35 scale, and i´m asking this for a friend who´s about to begin building something from the trenches, myself is all in to WW2

ICM do a group of 4 British soldiers in steel helmets which are okay for the later part of the Great War. Unfortunately there are some issues with the equipment that I have ranted about on this site before....
