Wow, wow and wow.
Im not really affected by this conflict of allied over axis release percentages, but the Scottish set just screams "build me" on their own merit. Its been a long time since the box artwork inspired me enough to know I want these immediatly. Fair play to MasterBox ... a very exciting set.
Even the other two sets make the mind wander a bit aswell. Thanks for the post Pat!

I will say the Scottish fellows are a refreshing change of pace.

Another set on the must have list this year

Masterbox will get a few bucks from me this year with the paras, horse wagon, and now this one. I haven't even mentioned the DML releases yet, good year for allied modelers.

Cheers

Exciting news, and as Dave said, a refreshing change of pace.

A fine "hurrah!" out to the folks at Masterbox. I'll add this set to my must-haves for the coming year.

Overall Masterbox has some exciting releases coming out...Can hardly wait to get my hands on these sets.

Note: The plaid on the kilt might be a challenge to paint though

Trying to figure out all the possible uses?

Any other ideas?

Hi Al. Esci had a set called "British camp - rest area" ... set # 5012, which had some british soldiers sitting around .... one of them had bag pipes! The details are a bit soft, but some extra care could turn out a decent enough figure!!

It really is a superb piece of news.

i'd imagine that we'll have them for review as soon as they come out of the moulds . Both ourselves and a Russian site are sent advance copies very quickly. So as usual, watch this space!

Ola Guys

Some truely brilliant releases from Masterbox. I love all three sets... I would already buy them for the boxart only. But again some very imaginative sets. I love the two German sets... very usefull. The british set is very nice too. Seems like a decent amount of my money will go to Masterbox this year

With friendly greetz

Master box certainly seem to be surpassing Dragon in the plastic figure market.

Every time there is news it is always some new and different, there figure sets certainly have a "Life" about them.

I would love to see what they could do with some Modern subjects

cheers

Oi ! This is great news. Finally a WWII figure set that represents Scots ! Its good to see plenty of interesting English/Commonwealth kits and decal sets out there. Before it was like hunting hobbits with an olde rake !

Cheers !!

Yes! Yes! and thrice Yes!!!!!!!

Take away the piper (don't fancy painting the kilt ) and the others can be used for any Commonwealth figures. Wonder how many figures will actually be in the set (there are 9 in the painting!).

The German guards set, take away their weapons and the 2 in the foreground become POWs themselves

As for the last set, will they include a cloth nazi flag in the set?

Nice stuff. You have to admire someone who'd walk into battle on the pipes. No wonder they wore kilts...pants couldn't be made big enough to contain them.

Nice looking sets. Why did nobody mention the "politically correct" German flag? It si missing something in the center.

Hi guys
These figures look awesome! I especially like the British guys with the Piper,

Phil Haworth, you might like to look up a book by 'Piper Bill Millin' he was Lord Lovats piper on D Day and he recounts his story from training through commando training to the end of the war. Also have a look at this website:

Nice set. Would the Pipers have a higher mortality rate than a regular troop?

Great sets. I really like the German troops signalling to aircraft. Would make an instand diorama with any German AFV.

Thanks for the update

Ahh Al,
Maybe Humbrol will suprise us and finally come out with some plaid paint for all the different tartans
It's nice to start seeing a few new British/Commonwealth figures being produced.
This is great, my Dad was in a Highland regiment and I've always wanted to tackle a piper and his pipes.
Cheers

David, I think that pipers were actually banned from combat just before Normandy, however Lord Lovat actually disobeyed this order and ordered Bill Millin to piper his men into battle, therefore I think that Bill was the only piper in combat and he actually survived the war, he once said that there were snipers firing at them whilst they were patrolling down a road whilst he was piping, they later captured the snipers and when asked why they didn't shoot teh piper they replied that they thought he was mad

HI
1st of all, i hope youve all had a great Christmas and are not going to drink too heavily tonight!!

secondly, i hope this link helps with the tartan painting problems

http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.upnaway.com/~obees/soldiers/blackband.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.upnaway.com/~obees/soldiers/scots.htm&h=250&w=500&sz=53&tbnid=jzox5pdFtpMJ:&tbnh=63&tbnw=127&hl=en&start=75&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dblack%2Bwatch%2Biraq%26start%3D60%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DN

Im probably showing my ignorance here, but is it possible this set could be used as Canadians advancing?
My Grandfather was in the 47th Canadian highlanders in WW1and2 (lied about his age both times-second time they caught on and made him a prison guard)I have a great picture of him in my modelroom in full Tartan with a bugle.
Or am I wrong?
