Since english is not my mother language, can anybody explain to me what is spackle- people use in dio buildings.
I know what is plaster.
Maybe a photo is more self explanatory?
TIA

Hi Petros.
Spackel is plaster. But I guess what is referred to here, is the D.I.Y. shop version that is bought in a hardware shop by the tube or small bucket ... already mixed. Its usually used to repair small holes in plaster walls or similar. Hope this makes sense!

Simply defined:
Spackle-noun:
Powder (containing gypsum plaster and glue) that when mixed with water forms a plastic paste used to fill cracks and holes in plaster

Plaster-noun:
1. A mixture of lime or gypsum with sand and water; hardens into a smooth solid; used to cover walls and ceilings.

If I had to pick one it might be that plaster is more dense and may dry slower? They basically are the same things and use the same way.

Spackle is more lightweight kinda "fluffy" compared to plaster. It also does Dry faster than plaster. Joint compound is more like the Spackle but closer to the Plaster mix itself.

Spackle is a type of plaster used for finishing and repairing holes in walls. It gives you more working time than Plaster of Paris, which is commonly sold in art supply stores rather than home repair centers. It's usually available as powder to be mixed with water, but some companies sell it as a premixed paste in a plastic tub.
Some manufacturers add a plastic compound to their brands, like Polyfilla in the United Kingdom or Durham's Water Putty in the USA, making it less prone to chipping. Just buy what's available in your city and experiment a bit until you find a type that has the properties you are looking for. These all have the advantage of being inexpensive.

Hi Petros, I cannot respond better that the previous responses. I used this spackle that Gerald says: he have a plastic compound in is composition. she is sold in a little plastic bag.Every country have is how trade mark in England is Polyfilla, here in Spain have and another name and probably in Greece you have your how mark, but the use in all countries is the same: a prepared plaster sold in little plastic bags and used for little repairs in walls at home before paint it.
hope that this helps
Carlos
