Are you referring to the 57 Chevy?

Oddly enough, it looks like a '57 Chevy Bel Aire Sedan...With most or all of its original chrome...(Love the dingleberries in the rear window!) Probably a Taxi at one point, most likely imported during the '60's or 70's by a foreign diplomat.
Wonder if this cat knows he could get stinkin' RICH (by current Iraqi standards) by selling it to a collector.
Bet if you could trace the VIN you'd get some history on this puppy...

I think the 1957 Chevys were also made in Turkey back in the early and mid 1960s GM sold the press and tooling to a company in Turkey.

Interesting...... So maybe I could get away with throwing a '59 Ford into an Iraqi Dio??? Did GAZ make a copy of the '57 Chevy.

Definitely a 57; 56 didn't have the chrome trim on the hood or the tailfins with chrome inserts. Looks like it has been crashed in the front.
I'm a little dubious about GM sending the tooling to Turkey for these cars. More likely someone saw a European sedan with similar lines, but not the same tooling.

Norm: how exactly do you figure the '57 has been "crashed" in the front?Maybe the '59 posted by Frenchy has been wrecked but howinhell do you figure the original post photo by Bravo has been "wrecked"? You can't see Shiite past the Blue sedan in the foreground!
Yeah, It's almost definitely a '57 Bel Aire, but save the (nonsense)speculations for the "What If " section. Many (& I mean Thousands) of classic autos were imported to the area during the Iranian Shah's rule, a couple of Dusenbergs & some Rolls-Royces if the history texts(& GM, Rolls, LLoyds of London, &Protze/Dusenberg sales records-available at the Kelly Bluebook site...) are correct. Many of these mint autos were quite likeley 'appropriataed' during the Iran/Iraq war of the '80's, -I wouldn't be surprised if this particular auto once belonged to a relative of the Shah...
And I can't see a Damn thing in the original Photo from Bravo18 suggesting more (in fact, LESS) of 37+ years of wear & tear...
Pull off the Taxi-style Roof rack & this baby may (I say MAY) be a cherry example of a '57 Chevy Bel Aire Sedan, fetching up to &50,000 USD on the market.
Bravo, this thing'll fit into a PalCon. If U can find the right S4 jakes to push it thru as (Demobed' Materiel), both U & the owner could come away with a decent remittance from the 2nd Bush war...

Hey guys

Here is a nice wee drop side truck like the one in the first pic made by Fujimi

Ok it is 1/32 scale but it should be close enough.

I spent 60 -90 days each year from 1982-1986 in Turkey and there were 57 chevys used by the Turkish Air Force We were told the same story. Found this on SNOPES

When I was on Temporary Duty (TDY) in Incirlik, back in '90, I heard the same thing. The Turkish Air Force drove around in practically new '57 Chevy pickups. The story was that they were still being manufactured in Turkey using original mouldings and plans.

When someone asked if they (the trucks) could be bought and shipped back to the states, the answer was: "No, they don't meet safety requirements so they would not be street legal."

Which might explain why some people believe the other story. I know that the Ford Falcon was made in Argentina years after they stopped making it here in the US.
h Air Force.

I was hoping it was a '57, but couldn't be sure without Googling. (all but impossible sometimes) Of course when I was a kid a four door was uncool, but I'd give anything to get this thing home. It would be possible, but who knows if the guy is even selling?

As for the Bonogo truck kit, that's definitely on my list, even though I've never seen any here with right hand drive. Shouldn't be hard to correct. By the way, most here are FAW or KIA.
