Truly astonishing. Not only are the models great, but the composition of the dio is so well thought out that it really draws you into the scene. One of the best dios I've ever seen - amazing work!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is truly amazing and right up my street!! I remember when you showed us those first photos, I never thought it would be so huge but WOW!!! I do have a couple of questions though:
1. Just how many figures are there, (just curious )
2. As I am fairly new to making decent well thought out dios I was wondering, did you purchase the figures and the vehicles at the same time and then wonder how to fit them all together or did you get the vehicles, position them and then think, 'Well I could put a figure here and another group here' and then get a number of figures and convert them all into the appropriate pose and fit tehm around the vehicles
3. Where did you find the Arabs or are they scratch built
4. Does the warrior have an AA interior, if so Id love to see it.
As I said this is a truly stunning dio and it is really great to see a modern British dio which can show us all what can be done with the limited aount of modern British kits out there. Thanks very much for showing this. Cheers,Nick

Oustandig job!!!
Your dio looks really good! I want to see more pictures if that is possible. I really like the British DPM desert and woodland that you have painted. It looks convincing Which colours did you use to paint the woodland DPM?
Grtz

I count at least 40 unique and highly detailed figures and about 8 vehicles. I was trying to figure out why the Chally was looking a little different in some pictures. Than I realized that there are two of them !!!
I'll never get tired of looking at this as there is always something more to look at.
Bravo. Big time.

If cursing was allowed on the forum
I was baffeled how you managed to put it all together in such a coherent way!!
And if I may be the "evil one"
the only thing I noticed about the dio, it's a desert dio, and (slap me if 'm wrong)
there isn't much dust on the vehicles?
on the other hand , dusting such a large group in a way that is convincing,..it's probably the best solution you made (it's gonna catch some dust anyways hé )
I've been looking at the pics , and here and there I noticed some figs I 'might' have seen somewhere, in another form, but brilliantly put together, I mean, I know when you put 2 figs next to eachother (different brands), the differences are sometimes to much to be 'reeel'
but you did it
And don't forget to thank you wife...
for letting you the time to created such a beauty, giving us eyecandy
I bow down

What a great snapshot scene of desert war downtime.Just stunning. Best large diorama I've seen in a long time that had 'everything' tied together so very well.
Gonna be hard to top this on your next one!
Cheers for super work!

Thank you everyone for the comments. I really appreciate it.
I also want to say many thanks to guys, who worked with me on this diorama - Vladimir Ulianov, Serge Skreblov and Alexander Fetisov. I am especially pleased with Sasha Fetisov's ( 14 years old ) work on details. Take a look on some examples:
Cameras are exact 1/35 copies of Nikon F-4 fitted with SB-24 AF-TTL Speedlight. And you may see Big Ben, two red buses and one London cab on 1.8 mm copy of cookies blue metal box.
Well... Few statistic information:
Diorama size: 95 x 75 sm
Number of figures : 64 ( + 3 camels)
Number of vehicles: 8 ( +1 motorbyke)
Vehicles: Accurate Armour, Dj Parkings, Тamiya, Academy
Figures: self-made and conversions of various kits from Drаgon, Verlinden , Accurate Armour, Dj Parkings, СMK, Hornet
Accessories and decals: Accurate Armour, Dj Parkings, Legends Models, DioArt, Echelon Decals, PlusModels, Model Point, Еduard, 4D Modelling
About your questions:
1.Yes, it’s too early for Land Rover Wolf , must be SAS Scud Hunter version. Il’s “known error”, sorry. Now AA has DPV Version available which may be converted to SH.
2. Arabs and white camels are Verlinden figures with our small additions.
3. Warrior is Acadeny kit + AA command conversion w/o interior.
4. Personally, I don’t like a lot of dust on vehicles.
Few words about diorama base.
We used foam plastic mat (50 mm thick) for base and make necessary terrain shape using knife. Then apply thin layer of paper on surface of the mat using white glue ( we use copies of receipts from supermarket cash-register, because they have equal size and appropriate thickness).
This procedure reinforces base and help to minimize amount of glue and sand which is needed on later stages.
Then apply next layer of white glue on paper and start applying sand . Thickness of sand layer must be around 3-4 mm.
Due to contact with glue sand will change its color to darker one. In approximately 30-45 munites ( depends on room temperature, glue, etc.) sand will start drying out and changing color to natural.
At this moment top layers of sand is pretty dry, but bottom layers – still wet. It’s time to start applying the tire and tread marks on sand. You have around 30-40 minutes for this process ( again depend from some factors), after which the sand will become hard. We use just appropriate size toy cars to imitate tyre marks.
As for desert plants we use corn female flowers aka corn silk
If you need some correction on completed base, you may apply some amount of white glue (mixed with water) on problem areas by using hand sprayer and adding more sand.
Best Regards,
Nick

Hi Nick
Thanks very much for those tios and information. As I have said before I love this dio. However not wanting to detract anything from it, I have noticed one historical error on about my 10th look at the pictures. That is the picture of Saddams statue being pulled down on the newspaper here:
This happened at the end of the 2nd Gulf war and your dio is the 1st Gulf War. As I said I dont want to detract anything from this dio but I thought I should say incase you enter it into any competitions or anything like that. Nick
