THAT is what I call a dio!! And that is one of the best I've ever seen! Gongratulations to that stunning work! So much life in it, so much reality (and so much work I guess)! You should try to present it somewhere in public, it is just absolutely worth it!!

Only one question to the tanks ammo reloading: do they reload the unpacked shells? They seem to be not very heavy (as your figures are holding them) but in reality they are REALLY heavy... !?

Anyway: I can't stop watching it: more pics wanted!!

Excellent dio Nick. Theres so much to like with all the details ... but what stands out a lot, for me, is that eventhough you have so many vehicles and figures, you still managed to leave a perfect amount of open space. This really adds to the desert feel.
The figures with the white t-shirts and the female figures stand out nicely, and great touch. Great to use so many variations ... but I havent spotted any coloured figures!
Is it me, or is the Arab, in the middle of the group getting their photograph taken, very ill ... or did you forget to paint his skin tones ... what can be seen of it anyway?

HAHAHA unbelievable how much your dio is looked "into", brilliant, I wouldn't have noticed any of the 'mistakes'.
(not a big desert modern warfarethingy )

but I also enjoy reading this topic, and I'm gonna try the sandlaying methode on my next model, I hope it's as good as yours

The guy walking away from the snack waggon has great coloured skin tones and like all the other figures looks great.

Totally incredible............ as already stated.

As previously mentioned (and you addressed fairly) my only thought was after seeing all the footage that I have and the pictures of these battles in the real world, dust and dirt are a major factor to the realism that you decided to not portray. It's the only bit that for me takes away from the awesome creation you have shown as it really should apply globally to this setting. Everything is too sanitary.............. regardless, it's still awesome and bigger then anything I have ever contemplated producing. And in no way do I mean for the above noted comment to take away from your work as everyone has their own styles and methods to doing things.

Cheers,
sarek

That is a real piece of art!!
Composition if flawless, no dull spots... every part has it owns story to tell.. and all together is a truly amazing snapshot of a living camp... every figure has a distinctive attitude..
Amazing wonr on the figures.. lots of conversions, I presume...
And attention to detail is impressive... the face of the figure that is chewing..
And the large amount of soda cans perfectly in scale... (I'm curios if you did them from scratch or if you bought them.. and if so, please let us know who is the manufacturer..)
How many years did you devote to have this Diorama finished??

Truly stunning!!!

Congratulations

Thanks again for comments!

Cans are Accurate Armour product A102:

http://www.accurate-armour.com/ShowProduct.cfm?manufacturer=0&category=4&subcategory=33&product=1881

Paper packages for cans were created in CorelDraw and printed.

I have started assembly of this diorama in November 2006. But collection of photos, books, other reference materials , models and figures started much earlier and took plenty time - around 2 years.

Best Regards,
Nick

One last comment.

When looking at this, I'm reminded of the Eve of Essling diorama.

Excellent work...truly. Well worth the two years.

Absolutely incredible, I rmember the earlier post of the chally reloading and had no idea of what was to come.
Its so easy with a big dio to miss some of the details to get it finished but there is no sign of that here, 100% attention to detail, from the figures different poses and their interactions, the stowage, camouflage painting and scenery, the whole lot is 100% spot on. One amazing peice of work and one to be proud of for a long time. Your level of skill and commitment is as impresive as the dio itself.

Congratulations on a job well done!

Just what I was hoping for was a dio to increase my modeling desire for a dio instead of just a kit by itself. Is it in any magazines yet or did you summit it to any yet.I would be surprised to see it not in a magazine.

I'm sorry but I put the group picture as my wallpaper I like it so much.

There isn't anything really I can say that wasn't said all ready. I just hope some editors will be smart enough to put your dio in there magazine.

Happy Modeling

Incredible!

Dioramas of this size, scale, complexity, and expense are very rare and you did a marvelous job!

AWESOME and WAY COOL!
