Here is a short update on my diorama. I have worked some more on the groundwork and started painting of the troops. Also the Wespe is almost finished with camo netting and decals. It just needs some more weathering.

The Lina Stalina base is made by RPM incidentally. I have been looking at mine (currently working on other projects) and am going to have some trouble fitting the turrets I have to the base, some more thought needed.

Anyway keep up the good work guys, looks like some great projects are on the way!

Hey, Im new here so Im not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but im working on Jagdpanther from the 1st Co. Of sPz. Jaeg. Abteilung Ko. sPz. Jaeg. Abt. 560 (Which I believe was the only Jagdpanther in this battle to see action, correct me if Im wrong.) This was an old Nashorn that was refitted as a late model Jagdpanther, and since this falls between the time when zimmerit was being applied, August 1943 to September 1944, I was wondering if anyone knew the pattern that was used on this tank. If not, a pattern which was used for late Jagdpanthers in general will have to do. (I dont think its the checked, because I believe that was only on early models, but im not sure.

MY PLAN

A KT will be the main character. It will have its crew dismounting from the vehicle. The KT will be broken down and blocking the road. 4 Grenadiers will be walking past the KT, along the muddy road. The second vehicle will be a C&C Sd.Kfz.251C which will have a major sitting in the back, talking on the radio, with a Stabsfeldwebel holding the rear door open, taliking to the major, and listening to the radios. There will be a Steyer, with a Division or Korps Commander, talking to Peiper. This will be in the Ardennes, so the base will be a muddy, snowy, icy mess. If I cant find a suitable Division or Korps Commander, I might use a Kubelwagen with a cold weather starter instead.

Does anybody know of a good German General Officer figure? I need one that will either be sitting in the back of a Steyr Kommandeurwagen or standing beside it. He needs to be wearing an overcoat, so the figure that comes with the Steyr wont really work.

I have finnished one vehicle. Two to go. I have also completed 7 figures. I think I have about 5 more to go. I am not sure how many figures will end up in the finished diorama. I am positioning the vehicles to see how I can best present them on the base.

Hi Carl, I was searching for some warriors figures in the Squadron mial order site and I noticed a Rommel and a German General figure from Warriors, #'s 35004 and 35187. Both are in overcaots and may be what your looking for. Happy Modeling.

Sounds like a great diorama, Carl! It will definently be big with all those vehicles and figures.

Small Dio...Packing a Big Punch ! I like it , Excellent Job.

Excellent stuff, here, people! What a range... a tiny, powerful vignette, a couple of larger vignettes, and a couple of larger-sized dios. People, I'm impressed!

Before I go further, I need to apologize to you all for my absence this last couple of weeks... things have been a little bit, shall we say, nutso? The week I had thought I'd get lots done, I couldn't get a thing done. Our store is expanding and there has been tons of overtime necessary in moving our warehouse, (even thought it's only across the street!) and probably will be tons yet to come as they renovate the actual store itself. Add some personal stuff on top of that... You all get the picture.

At any rate, I've finally been able to get a little something accomplished, even if it was only to work the a few figures and their accessories. I must admit, it felt good to actually get my fingers a little paint-stained again and smell a little bit of that good ol' glue! For the next two weeks, I'm guaranteed to not have to work o/t, although I will have to be doing a little studying, as I'm taking a First Aid course for work, but I should still ought to be able to do at least some modelling. Here is my first entry for the campaign. The 1/35 Alan Hobbies/ Eastern Express Wespe with an Eduard update set. The diorama is set somewhere behind the Siegfried line where US troops are passing a damaged and abandoned Wespe.

I plan to build a 88mm gun emplacement as well for this campaign, but that will be later. There should be enough time before the campaign ends.

Nice Wespe! Eduard AM parts are usually great, unfortunately they usualy cost almost as much as whole model...
Interesting shape of diorama . This mud looks awfull - just looking at it makes me feel dirty...

Well... I had hoped for some modelling time while I'm doing this course? Riii-ight! Even though I'm re-certifying, it's eight hours a day of class-time, come home, do all the stuff I need to around the house, (you know, cook, eat, cleanup, especially when SWMBO has to work OT!) do a half-hour of homework, and then anywhere from 2-4 hours of pre-reading for the next days classes. But... the upshot... I'm basically halfway through. And it's coming up on the weekend. So, I hope, I hope...

Gentlemen, keep up the great work! I am following everybody's progress as best I can, right now, and what I'm seeing, I'm liking!

WIP

The rough lay out. I can't figure out anyway to put the Komandeurwagen in the diorama and keep good balance. So it is now sitting in the box, half done, relegated to waiting for another diorama.

I am about ready to create the base. The figures need a little more work. The vehicles need a lot of mud and general weathering/washes. Progress is good and promisses to continue at a fast rate with six inches of new snow on the ground, and maybe six more by morning.

Outstanding job so far! Taking under consideration size of King Tiger this diorama is going to be quite big . What are you planning for your ground-work? I want to make my dio 100% in snow.
Here's my status for today: KT is painted with another color (brick red this time, I've read that this is more suitable color for KT tanks during Ardennes counterattack). I've almost finished the commander of my tank.

Andrzej, Your KT looks great.

As for me, I have been working hard this morning. I finished two of the figures. The Sturmscharführer in leathers is actually now a Hauptscharführer. The Oberscharführer painting is also complete. I added the headphones to the Major and he is almost done. I am working on the tank crew figures which are about half finished. I also got some metal tracks for the halftrack, to replace tose really sad looking plastic ones.

To answer your question- The groundwork is going to be mud, with patches of snow and ice. The tank and halftrack will be almost hull deep in rutted roads of mud. Where the senior figures are standing will be patches of snow. They will actually be standing next to a roadsign at an intersection. The Panzergrenadiers will be walking down the very narrow road next to the KT. The halftrack will be on the second road. It is supposed to depict Peipers command track. So I am thinking it should have a pennant. Does anybody out there know what the pennant for a Kampfgruppe Commander would look like?

M4A3E2 Jumbo: Part 3: Fitting the Lower & Upper Hulls and Exhaust Deflector

I would first like to start off by saying that the participation and material that has been posted for this campaign has been great. I check every day to see what new stuff has been posted. I got a little behind on my building for this campaign with events at work and home, but things are back to normal and I got some things done over the last week and a half…so here is what I have been working on.

As we all know Tamiya has the bad habit of leaving gaping holes in the sponson area.
Therefore the first order of business when fitting the upper and lower hulls is to build sponsons. I used sheet plastic cut to the sizes as shown in the photos below and fitted them into place. Once the sponsons where in place the two hulls where fitted without any major problems.





Next up was the exhaust deflector. The one provided in the Tamiya kit is just bad! I used the deflector from a spare DML M4A3 kit. After building it up and a little fitting the result was much better.
