Thanks for the update, coming along nicely. Your right about the kit tires,...horrible!

Was the warhead assemble at the launch site?

cheers

In the travel position, the warhead container would be turned around (nose facing the rear, and closer to the missile with the front trailer extension folsed up.

Upon reaching the firing position, the crew would extend the trailer then using the davit crane rotate and move forward the warhead container. Next they would remove the warhead from the container and install it on the missile.

That's the long answer. The short is yes, always assembled at the site!!

Thanks for your comments and for looking.

hi,
nice kit & great job building it.
Military Vehicles magazine had an article recently on the base truck used by the Pershing. ppg 190 in Doyles' standard catalog of Military Vehicles has a pic of the EL & according to Chrismons' U.S.MILITARY VEHICLES the tire size is 16:00-20.
if you'll pm me with an address i found a nondirectional tire in my parts box you may be able to use as a mold. it appears to be about the right size when put up to the tires you have in the pics.
let me know

Mike-
I just discovered this thread- man what a beautiful job you did on that kit!
I really liked seeing the way you examined each part and made changes with styrene, wire etc. as you needed.

Thanks for documenting and sharing it- Steve

What a work of art Mike!

I am drinking a beer as I look at this great build so here's to you!

It never ceases to amaze me what excellent modelers there are on this site.

Great job. Your attention to detail is admirable.
I will steal your trick on the heater hose next time I need to not something like that - would work for a aircraft diorama as well.

Thanks for sharing

Steve – Thanks for you comments. Part of the fun building this kit was figuring out “how” I would make the details. Thanks again for your comments and for looking.

Marty – Thanks for the brew. As a retired Army officer and now an engineer, attention to detail is important and as I told Steve, it’s fun to figure it out!!.

Brett – It’s defiantly not your run of the mill kit. The subject was interesting from my artillery side and the rarity of it made it all the better. Thanks.

Jesper – Yep, I can see that type of hose in the aircraft side of modeling. The wire is easy…the trick is patience in applying the airplane tissue without ripping it yet getting it to stick and be tight. Trust me, there were plenty of colorful metaphors as I was doing it but in the end it worked.

If you make one the other trick is to bend it slowly so as to allow the tissue to move and relax without ripping.

Thanks again for your comments.

Gino – I was waiting for you….I thank you for your comments and as always, very much value your opinion.

I may be your older “brother” on the redleg side but I’m still the “younger” brother trying to catch up on the modeling side.

Keep your lots separated…hope your received your basic load.

Thanks again
