Nice build, Scott. It looks good so far.
Looking forward to see more.

Thank you gentlemen.
I sprayed on the white wash last night, turned out pretty good. I'm going to do some wear and tear on the whitewash, and some streaking tonight as well. I'll post pics of all three stages at the same time to better show the progression of the weathering.

Here are some photos after I sprayed the light whitewash coat and did some paint chipping.
Up next is some more weathering, oil washes, dot method with white oilsand mist coat for blending so it will be a bit whiter when I'm all finished. And of course I need to paint the springs, muffler, tools and PE leather straps. I'm getting there slow and steady!

Here is the Pz.Kpfw.38(t) Ausf. F ready for the washes. I'm about 2/3 of the way cleaning up the track links. It's been a quiet evening so far, no major earthquake activity to report since this morning.

Looking sharp, Scott, the way you layed down that whitewash weathered it nicely already (who needs grammer ) Looks the part with all the bits on, going to look fantastic when complete. Great job!

Thanks James,
The wood has been painted and two washes applied. I'll have pics in the morning as it's still a little wet and shiny.

Hey guys, still working on the washes and weathering. Here are some shots after last nights washes. I still have a lot more weathering to do on the springs, muffler/exhaust, and more washes to do overall. I did a black oil wash on the machine guns, muffler, engine grill and leaf springs this morning. Towards the end I will do some white streaking using the dot wash method. I hope to be able to finish the individual link cleanup today at lunch which will allow me to assemble the links between washes tonight. If all goes well I may be able to paint the tracks tonight. I'm still not happy with the wood, so I'm going to mess with the handles some more tonight.

Scott :
Just love your build blog, have been following it with intense interest, great build. The comparison shots of the Pz. Kpfw VI to the Pz. Kpfw. 38(t). made me wonder if 38(t) crews ever suffered from cannon envy. I know they say size doesn't matter, but what a difference. Never realized just how huge a Tiger is, or is that just how small a 38(t) actually was.
Love your white wash, can almost feel a cold Russian breeze blowing my way.
Again great build, thanks for sharing.
Fido

Thanks guys.
Here is my finished build of the Tristar 1/35 Pz. Kpfw. 38(t) Ausf. F, serving with the 19th Panzer Division in Russia, 1942. This was a pretty intense kit, but worth the effort. Man did I learn a lot on this one!!!

Bravo, Scott, very nicely done. Many great techniques on this one, but a couple of my favorite areas are the tracks and the finish on the wood/steel for the tools. All in all, beautiful job

... the rivets, ... They may not appear so large once I get some gray paint on them.
You were right, the whole model looks so real, great kit, fantastic build. You have convinced me to put one of these beauties in my stash. Although mine will never look as good, you made it look like a fun, rewarding build.

Just for fun, here are some size comparison pics for those who are interested. Man that Tiger is huge!

Nice work Scott and the side-by-side comparison reminds just how much tank vehicle size advanced in such a short space of time.

Congrads on a job well done. Your a very talented modeler and it shows in your work Here's to hoping you post more builds in the future The comparison pics are a sight , they certainly advanced technologically during the war and your Tiger is awesome as well , thanks for the great pics Bob

Excellent job Scott, I really like the finish you achieved. Worn and tired, but at the same time looking well cared for and ready for action. Beautiful.
I second that, I actually just pulled the box of the shelf... I also remembered that I have the Eduard sets for both the interior and exterior for it... . I must say, I'm looking forward to building this one.
Thanks for the inspiration Scott.

Coming along great Scott, it's gotten me to eyeing the ones I have in the stash for a possible near-term date with the workbench.

Thanks guys, I think we've stirred up a bunch of interest with this kit, or at least this tank! It's very interesting and looks like a missing link between the old style/technology and the new (well, for WWII anyway)
I'd like to build another in a nice gray scheme. Might be fun to do a group build of the Pz.Kpfw. 38(t) including the vehicles based on it.
