Terrific work!

I really love the subtitle weathering you accomplished. What did you think of the kit? It looks like you’ve added some after market PE is that the case?

Kind regards,
Noah

This (build) ones really well done and I think you captured the look of the desert sand paint wonderfully. Congrats you did a great job with it.

The academy kit has a ton of issues (enough I didn't buy one). Check the review on Perth for details as I am no expert. I love the Sheridan as a modelers tank it just looks terrific and one of these days I am going to build the Jaguar one I have stashed away (perhaps using parts from this Academy kit with it).

Check out Pawel's review of Academy's Sheridan in the Reviews section here. Despite all that, I still think it looks enough like a Sheridan to build into a nice kit, as this build shows. It would be nice if AFV Club came out with a great accurate Sheridan but the Academy will do for me until then.

I think it looks great. I like the paint chipping and weathering, understated but enough to give the tank a lived in look. The photos are very good, getting the right light to avoid shadowing can be diificult.
Forget about the issues with the kit (already stated at length on this site), as long as we have fun building our kits, thats what makes us keep coming back. If we spent too much time worrying about the shortcomings of a recently purchased kit we'd never get anything built. I wish I had more time to come up with work as good as this.

Excellent build. I have never seen a Sheridan kitted up like this before. Congratulations on a very well made model.

Thanks for sharing

Looks great! Very well done. My only critiques are that I don't believe we had that style MRE box back in '91, and the .50 cal ammo boxes would PROBABLY not have been repainted in the sand color and remained in their original dark green (we never repainted any of ours, but that doesn't mean nobody else did...). That said, again, the model looks great. Fantastic job painting and weathering. I hope mine turns out half as good!

I absolutely love the look of the Sheridans; kinda quirky and mean at the same time. This model certainly does the real thing justice (well, as close as you can get with the Academy kit!). It certainly looks like a Sheridan to me.

The paint is well done and the weathering is top notch. Very nice photos, too.

I have to agree with everyone else. The subtle shading and weathering is fantastic. A gorgeous piece of modern armour.

Sorry for digging this up from the past (actually, I'm not really!) but just starting mine and these pictures are great. A top-class build and thanks for sharing so many detailed photos.

Just one question: is it realistic to have so many ammo-boxes attached to the sides of the turret?

Cheers,
Sean

Yes, that is where the extra ammo was stored since there was no extra room inside the tiny turret.

It looks good from a distance, but he missed lots of details and has all sorts of accuracy issues. He has lots of color errors too.

The .50 cal ammo cans should be dark green, not sand. Same for the 40mm ammo cans in the turret bustle rack.

The rear lights are not correct. The taillights are upside down. The ovals should be up. Also, he didn't paint them. Only the upper left oval should be red, the others are all black slits as part of the blackout drive/stop light system. Most modelers get this wrong and it is a pet peave of mine. Here is how it should look.

The handle in the circle on the left front side skirt should be red. It is the pull handle for a HALON fire suppression system inside the vehicle.

The antennas and their bases should be dark green, not black.

The straps on the water jugs should not be brown leather. They should be a shade of green fabric webbing w/flat black buckles. Same for the straps on the ammo cans, which he elected not to paint.

His stowage is not accurate either. The MRE boxes are incorrect modern ones. ODS era(Operation Desert Storm, '90-'01) MRE boxes were flatter rectangle boxes, not the more square ones used today. He has WWII US Blitz (or German, can't tell) fuel cans and metal fuel cans (O.K., but wrong color), which would not be painted sand either, but a shade of green.

Headlights and vision blocks should be glossy too. They don't look like glass at all. Inside the spotlight should be chrome silver, it is a reflector type, like on a camera flash or inside a headlight.

Again, a good effort, just no attention to detail or accuracy. It seems to be the latest trend in modeling, to me anyways. Lots of artistic talent, but no research and attention to accuracy or details.

I like it very much, the desert painting comes out very nice, subtle weathering not overdone. About all the mentioned inaccuracies I didn't know but for me it looks like a Sheridan. Thanks for sharing your pics.

wow gino is really a good critique-er he has alot of good points. I think the tank is awesome. but i will jump on the band wagon and say the ammo cans need to be repainted green.
