In my opinion, which I know a lot of you have a problem with since it doesn't fit in to your "everyone should be equal and everything should be fair" world

Maybe it's not your opinion but rather the way it is delivered.

Well as usall, the truth sucks.

The truth in your view being ...?

I wasn't passing judgement on him, nor commenting on him as a person.

Really? Well that's what it came across as.

I've been jobless at periods in my life. Stuff happens. I had to do without, I didn't have anyone else covering the real exspenses ....

Cue the violins ....

Haven't most of us? In which case you ought to know Gary that to say (paraphrased) "get up off your arse and find a job" is neither very constructive nor helpful.

Sorry if I don't subcribe to that touchy-feely theroy that everything should be fair, cause the truth is, life's not fair at times ....

Where has anyone said that everything in life should be fair?

James simply sounded off about how postage prices from the USA have gone crazy recently (which, by the way, many here agree with and have also commented on elsewhere).

Or are you trying to tell us that you've never felt the urge to have a good old gripe about something and that this somehow sets you apart from the rest of us? Is that what you're claiming?

I am in no way trying to discourage him from the hobby, I hope he sticks with it ...

Well - maybe you're just trying to be the Simon Cowell of Armorama then.

Quoted Text

if you don't have the money...you shouldn't be spending it.

Once again you're making assumptions .. we don't know exactly what he has or hasn't spent.

Quoted Text

... just because someone has a difference in opinion.

Opinion is indeed divided: You regard yourself as a plain-speaking realist. The rest of us think your presence in this thread is the posting equivalent of having Attila The Hun round for tea.

Hobbies are for those with spendable income.

That is quite possibly the most asinine thing I have seen posted on the internet. And, I have been at this a while.

(1)there were no shipping estimates, i looked fairly hard for them,

Ok, that is your main problem then.

Never ever trust anyone in America to give a reasonable price for some fee like postage and handling that they do not give openly and up front when you are checking out and before you pay.

If you have to look more than a couple seconds for shipping and handling charges, move on to some other web store that does openly display those fees.

Sorry that happened to you. In America, the saying "let the buyer beware" is totally true.

Vance. I don't think we should single out America on this one. I believe this applies everywhere...
