I just found this post, I hope I'm not to late. I thought that I'd post some pics for you.... Personally, the best challenger that I ever saw. None of the pics below are mine, I just found them on the web here and there and aquired them for a ref. Get inspired!!!

This Challenger 1 Mk3 was built and painted by Ron Puttee, here is a link to the gallery post at ML:

It is indeed the best Op Granby Challenger 1 I've seen, this model inspired me to build my own version several years ago. Just keep in mind as has already been mentioned, the colors used in Op Granby and Op Telic were not the same. I used the mix David posted above and am very happy with the results on my Challenger 2.

You might consider getting a compllete decal sheet from fe Echelon or Bison. The Tamiya decals are rather sparse.

thanks,

Richard

Well, a very dark grey or faded black for the rubber track pads.....and the metal parts are also blackened....the end result will depend if the tracks have been sitting and have a bit of surface rust, or running on sand or mud or roads.....dust and dirt change the overall track colour. The guide teeth on the track will generally be a shiny silver from rubbing on the inside of the road wheels.

Sorry if you are looking for a single our of the bottle paint colour.....it's impossible.

Look at this site.......plenty of Challenger 2 tracks to choose from for your references.

thanks il take a good look through them.

but like most have said, very little of the tracks will be seen once complete, especially if i model it in a sand dio.

even if they cant be seen, i know they are there so want to do a good job on them.

for those people who have done this kit.

can some one please tell me where parts G12 (clear) and E6 (looks like an areal gator) go. I cant seem to find them anywhere in the instructions!!

Or are they unused?

Thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard

G12 is listed in the Not Used section at the end of the instructions and E6 is the turret rear - do you mean E5? Two of these are fitted from the inside of the turret in Stage 24

Hope this helps.
