Firstly, I apologize for not doing an extensive Googleing search yet. There is a major sh*tstorm brewing at work and honestly, it has stolen much of my "disposable time".
In an attempt to practice some constructive escapism and avoid wracking my brain over stupid crap I have no control over - I am trying to work more on my models. I am wondering - where are some good guides on what colors to use for various uniforms and such? I used to do a lot of figures and had a lot of books and a huge stash of paints... but none of that is really available any longer. (and all of that was pre-internet, yes the DARK ages!
For instance, I am currently working on a vignette where a WWII German soldier is peering over some street rubble at an approaching T-34/85 tank. The soldier has a Panzerfaust and a couple of potato-mashers at hand. Scene is late '45, possibly in or near Berlin.
Where would you experts turn for uniform / colors / paint refs? The rubble dust and grime is understood, but I need a rough starting point for paint call-outs and uniform details.
Upcoming - an insurgent sporting an RPG (I figure Levis and Nike's could work... lol); and an NVA soldier that I want to pose near the SA-2 model I already have to show the scale some. Eventually, also Wild Weasel pilots/rios a/o crews.
So an overall good source for paint call-outs for figures would be awesome. Otherwise there'll be hell at home too when I end up buying a pallet of model paints and have to face the Household Chief Financial Officer!
Thanks much in advance, and I hope everyone in Armorama manages to avoid the sort of Org Chart purges and pissing-matches that I get to be collateral damage in!

While there is a lot of very well versed people here your best bet may be Historicus Forma to obtain exactly what you are after.

Someone else had posted it a few years ago but I don't remember who. Anyway I think it is a pretty helpful site.

Much thanks, all. You rock. My Panzerfauster has some skin tone now, but I had to redo my NVA gentleman as the skin tone color I tried ended up drying way darker than I expected.
Love this site and the help available.
Thank you again.
