Well, since the thread's been resurrected, here's another. It says something to the effect of, "Military Vehicles Only-Guards Are Authorized To Shoot." The Jersey barriers are just beyond the sign to the right:

Thanks for the pictures. They are absolutely usefull and I now have a pretty good idea of what I want to do with the Jersey Barriers.
Sorry for not replying earlier but saturday when you posted the pictures of the checkpoints I managed to quite stupidly break 2 ribs and bruise one quite badly. I have bandage around my waist and I'm on painmeds still. So I have not been much online and certainly not much typing either. Luckily there is a little bit of progress and I hope to be off the painmeds soon.
Then I can do some modelling too.

Thanks for the pictures. I have saved them and printed them out to use as a guide.

Greetings Robert Blokker

No worries on the reply. I've only been logging on every 2-4 days myself recently. Hope all is well - just don't watch any funny movies for a while...

If the manufactturer allows it, I would like to see some photos soon.

You are damn right about not watching funny movies... Laughing is no fun at all with broken ribs. My body also got the unfortunate idea couple of days ago to sneeze. Maaaaan even the pain medication was not up to that.

It was actually in my planning to make some pictures for reviews of the barriers. Before the whole rib deal. I hope to have some time for it this week. I also hope to get rid of the painmeds this week.

I have a question about the pictures Looking at your last pictures you posted the color with which the barriers and the checkpoint are painted is Blue. But when I look at the pictures from your earlier postings I notice that the color there is mainly red. Is there a reason why barriers are red and others blue? Is that to do with the Iraqi Police versus Iraqi Army or is it just what color of paint they can find they use as long as the barriers are visible from a distance? I really like the blue color on those Jersey barriers Just a great way to break up the sandcolors. I also love that wooden guard shack.

With friendly greetings

The fourth picture in that posting shows a barrier that says IP (Iraqi Police) in red. I would assume that the blue originally was for IP, as it matches their trucks (see at beginning of thread) but the Iraqi Army was also jointly manning some of those checkpoints. It appears to be up to the imagination of the local PD. As for IA, they do them in red/white, black/red, black/white, and my favorite-the Iraqi flag.

You've now got me interesting in doing a small vignette someday using a battered IA UAZ-469 at a similar checkpoint.

One of the nice things about my job is that I "get to" plan routes on missions-primary, alternate, infil, exfil... So I've worked it so that I could go by some of the barriers I mentioned earlier. I had to wait a bit for obvious reasons to post these.
I missed the skull and crossbones ones as I had a "noncompliant" car to deal with, but managed to get the tower, which had pretty much the same sad artwork:

Here are a few that I mentioned earlier with the Iraqi flag:

This poor guy is in for a long hot summer. From one of the few times I've driven. I usually put myself on the gun unless I have something else going on.

And finally a tower with the flag:

Tom,
If that was directed at me you're welcome to use any photos in my photobucket account as references: 18bravo_photos
Only a few days prior to your post I deleted several of the lesser quality ones. The better ones still appear in the thread. Don't have any others to send, other than what you see in the album. Not of checkpoints anyway.
