Hi everyone,

Here's my latest project :

The models are build direct From The Box and comes from Trumpeter for the tank (Hotchkiss - item n°351) and Dragon for the figs (Germania Regiment France 1940 - item n°6281)

Everything has been painted with acrylics. The dio is a piece of plaster added with celluclay then painted and grass spead on it.

Hope you enjoy.

Cheers
Eric

Eric -

Fantastic job! Looks good from here, like how you've managed to have the soldier on the tank peering in, very nice! Good groundwork as well, nice work on your figures as well. Thanks for sharing your work.

Cheers!

All around very nice work! Maybe the uniforms and helmets should look a little more worn/faded or dirty?

A lot better than what I can do!

Hi,

Thanks for all your positive comments.
It feels great after working on a project to see that people enjoy looking at it.

To Jordan :
Yes it's 1/35 and the cobblestone have been engrave in the plaster wirh a nail point, then painted.

Cheers

Hi Eric,

This is something we don't see often. A great aspect of the diorama is the fantastically painted figures. Well done. I also like the tank, well made and well painted.

Unfortunately, I think the transition between road and dirt is too abrupt and the tanks tracks seem to get lost (or camouflaged) on the base. Perhaps it is just the lighting as the photo taken from ground level does make the transition appear more natural. There is also a bit of 'dead space' or open spaces where there is nothing on the diorama, making it feel 'empty'. Perhaps just a little battle litter or foliage would help fill out the diorama more.

I don't intend my comments to hurt, just to help. Remember these are just my personal thoughts and if nobody else agrees with me then by all means ignore what I have said. On the whole, the diorama is good and I hope to see more from you in the future.

Hi,

Thanks to all for your support and positive comments.

To Chas,

Thank you for your comments. Because working on a project, you finally don't see anymore the points that could be improved. So regarding my project through your eyes is interesting :

>I think the transition between road and dirt is too abrupt and the tanks tracks seem to get lost (or camouflaged) on the base.
Done the correction since to be closer to reality and not "lost" on the base.

>There is also a bit of 'dead space' or open spaces where there is nothing on the diorama, making it feel 'empty'.
I thniking about filling this empty space with abucket or an "Adrian"helmet (french WW2 helmet) or even a kilometer marker ... Perhaps foliage would help.

Cheers.

Hey Eric,
A nice scene you have here.

Firstly, great job on the base, I don't think the transision between road and dirt is too sharp, as a good bit of rain would soon clear up the road surface and make it stand out. A little foliage or some debris would add some interest to the base though.

The figures are excellent, a great paint job you've done there, as for the dirt on the figures, a little more wouldn't hurt, but this early in the war many of the soldiers would be wearing brand new clean kit anyway.

I am building the same trumpeter H '35'/38 (it can't actually be a 35 model due to an incorrect engine deck) and could reel off a massive list of alterations that need to be done to the kit. However, it looks good, you have done a great job with the camouflage and so I won't get into that.

One last point, as for the title, the scene really doesn't look like the Ardennes to me, thinking it to be more forrested, although i'm sure you have a better idea than me!

Great work, thanks for sharing,

James

Guess what many people think that the Ardennes is a big and deep forrest. On one side, I say yes and many airborne veterans can tell us a lot about it ... But on another hand part of the Ardennes area has fields like this pictures shows :

and here's a picture in color :

Hi Eric,

I really like the scene you're showing us, and indeed, not every square mile in the Ardennes is filled with trees.

One little question though, what's the reason the tank has been abandoned? I guess it wasn't knocked out in battle, as you didn't make any battle damage.

Thanks for sharing.

I like the result, I see very realistic,
but I think we lack a vertical axis, a tree, a traffic signal, an electricity pole ... anything that would give effect to avoid an entire horizontal ¿no?
