Ok a few more,
Crew for the M7 Priest, both for a moving vehicle and for firing one. Graham from Resicast has produced a great set of accessories but who going to crew the vehicles.
3" mtr crew and Vickers MG crew, again the weapons exist but no crews to man them.
Just some more that have been on my whish list for a long time.
A few more pics for inspiration

Some ripping photos there Al!
BUT, there is definitely a M7 crew on the market. It is either just released or about to be, and features a 4some loading and firing from memory, and they look really good mate.

Hmmm since everybody seems to make propaganda for their wishes. I want to show some pictures of the heroes of Holland after the mobilisation.
Click on the following link to find out all you wanted to know about the Dutch Soldiers uniform. Click on any of the pictures right and an enlargement appears on the left. In this enlargement you can click on several uniformparts and get more pictures and background information about them. I gather you don't speak or understand Dutch but I'm always happy to translate

Civillians never go wrong.. from the 1920's till now... imagine what you can do with them. Could range from war victims to 70's and 80's era protesters

I would like to some WWI and early WWII soldiers with the pigeon carriers on their backs. I have seen different pictures from both world wars of soldiers from different nations with the pigeon carriers. I would also like to see figures in different poses with the pigeons such as attaching messages to their legs and also releasing the pigeons. A figure writing out a message would be a possibility also.
Could make for an interesting vignette.
Just my two cents.

Hi Brad,
Haven't seen the M7 crew yet, but likely to be American (no offence). I was hoping Gragham at Resicast might do a crew for his Sexton and they would probably suit but don't know if that's going to happen or not.
Gordon at Cromwell does a re-arming crew NWE and a desert tank crew that might be adapted to fit the scene but...... no chappies letting rip lthough ol, lol. I was thinking desert chaps.

From the NAM period there are many US soldiers. You have HobbyFan which makes many fantastic figures. But still there are missing some nice LRRP or Green Berets.
Also there are nothing or very little from other armies involved in Nam. You only have a set of vietcong, ARVN and NVA sappers from dragon and their quality is not to todays standards and their size are big. It would be interesting to get some VC, NVA and ARVN. Also some South Korean, Taiwanese, Aussies (there are some Australian figures but none from New Zealand), chinese, cuban, etc.
A nice figure set would be a SEAL/LRRP/Special Forces/MACV-SOG/South Korean/Aussie Special Forces getting ready for a kill (silenced gun or knife) or killing with a knife a VC/NVA. Another one would be a VC sapper with almost no clothes getting inside a base to make a close attack.
A good book for VC and NVA references is "Another Vietnam" from National Geographic. I bought mine from Amazon (in the new & used section and mine been new) for 13US$.
Have a nice day,
Angel

hi all,
How about some famous SS regimental and battalion commanders. Going through Mark Yerger's SS Commander's books you'd have some good photos for making good figures.
Chris , just a thought

My vote goes to Dutch WW2 infantry as well. Of course because being Dutch, but also because of the very very little attention for the short struggle of the Dutch military during the Blitzkrieg.
In general, there is I think a shortage of early war figures, even in German figures. However the 'agressor' always seems more interesting than the attacked one. Anyway, of that small amount of European infantry figures available, next to German most seem to be French or Polish.
So yes, please more Polish and French figures, but please don't forget that Belgium and The Netherlands also fought for their country, and that there is a lot of interesting modelling on this subject as well. The campaigns in the Netherlands and Belgium involved not only Dutch and Belgians, but also French and British expeditionary forces as well as the German attackers and civil refugees. Also on several spots throughout the Netherlands, for instance on the Grebbenberg, at the Moerdijk bridges and at Kornwerderzand hard battles were fought. And why are there no Belgian soldiers yet available for a Eben-Emael raid diorama? Imagine the diorama possibilities of Fall Gelb!
With only 2 Dutch infantry figures available in 1/35 I really would like to see some more. Regular infantry, machine gun crews (using the .303 Vickers or Lewis machine guns), AT gun crews using the 4,7cm Böhler PAG, AA gun crews using 2cm Oerlikons, Dutch Marines who fought so hard in Rotterdam...
In case there are doubt if it would sell: the Warriors Dutch Lewis MG gunners is pretty hard to find so either only few are made or it does sell
Alright, done my piece of advertising, and hopefully not only 'mainstream' but also the more 'unknown and/or forgotten' will become part of our miniature history....

This is a great topic! Figures, in general (outside of the WWII mainstays, U.S., German, Russian ETO subjects) have, in my opinion, been sorely lacking in lots of areas, most of which have already been mentiioned and I would like to second, third...
Pacific theater (PTO), outside of a few Marines and even fewer Japanese offerings by Dragon and Verlinden has lots of good, quality subject material. While we could always use more Marines and Japanese to augment what is available it would be great to have some new stuff:
British Infantry in Tropical Uniforms (PTO)
Australians Infantry in Tropical Unifroms (PTO)
Z Special Force
U.S. Army Infantry in Tropical Uniforms (PTO)
SEABEEs (PTO)
UDT Figures (Dive Gear and/or Standard Unifroms)
Another area that has some representation but is still rather limited (again Dragon, Verlinden and in this case Firestorm) is Vietnam. There are lots of great subjects that have not been covered well or at all:
U.S. Navy Boat Crews
U.S. Navy Advisors
Air Force Field Crews
Air Police
Para Rescue (PJs)
Australian Infantry
Australian SAS
Australian Helo Crews
Australian Clearence Diving Team 3 (CDT 3)
And British subjects from the latter half of the 20th century such as Malaysia and the Falklands:
British Infantry
British SAS
British AFV Crews
Australian Infantry
Australian SAS
Gurkhas.
Even a fraction of these would be appreciated and open up a lot of new topics/subjects to model.
Thank you!

Aside from the 3 pages mentioned, my 2 cents worth. Navel and air force figures. Many boat and plane models but a lack of figures for them. Pilots seated or boarding, mechanics and ground crews, same with the navy. And of course more civilians from around the world would be a gift from the styrene gods, like s. pacific, asia ,holland, and even s. america. Also would like to see a set (mentioned before ) of a coast watcher with some native s. pacific figures maybe even with a dugout canoe and radio equipment. And lets not forget the women in uniform either.

I already wrote, and suggested some 1/35 modern tank riders, and Third World guerrilla irregulars in particular, but I thought of something else. Why not consider making some modern mounted troops? American troops on horseback in Afghanistan and Iraq, Sudanese janjaweed on camelback, and Rhodesian Grey's Scouts come to mind as examples.

Good thread
There are none....say again, NONE of these to be had anywhere ever in any scale....
Modern Canadian AFV figures, tank crew and infantry. WWII stuff can be easily modified or used as is from British figures but modern Canadian stuff is truly lacking.
For example - Modern Leopard and LAV III crews - nothing. Soldiers serving in Afghanistan right now - nothing. 1970's - 2000's AFV crews - nothing.
Please....... (insert begging emoticon here)
Bob
I have to go with Bob on this one. Many people are interested in building Canadian LAV's and Leopards. Yet if you want to crew them you have to convert or scratchbuild. A LAV would be a lot more interesting if you had a crew and some infantry for a nice little vignette.

Matt,
Sounds like you could get a few companies started with this!
My ideas: I like figures that can be traced back to movies. I know this is not always prototypical, but it is kinda cool. Can't tell me Tamiya would have released that PBR without Apocalypse Now?
I think a company already makes Kellie's Heroes, we could use the PBR crew and Kurtz and Kilgore from Apocalypse Now. We have something like a Cross of Iron set from Dragon, but a real Steiner and his platoon. Figures from the Rat Patrol and Combat for our senior modelers, maybe Blackhawk Down and others for younger modelers.
There might be a royalty issue, but I think it's the same deal as using Union Pacific for model trains. Besides, are their copyright laws in the former Eastern Bloc?
That's what I'd buy.
Six foot peak? Hey heh!

Time for me to come out of lurking and go begging for some modern female soldiers.
And of course Swedish soldiers, especially serving in foregin countries. Our new desert uniform is great looking (though I would hate to paint it...)
And more commonwealth ww2 troops.

Well here's my tip ; croatian soldiers from 1991 -1995. Here in Croatia if I want to do dio from war 1991 i have to combine few sets of figures to achive what I want. In the begining of war we had all sorts of uniforms combined with civilian clothes , as times go by we managed to get some US, german and even east german uniforms. Helmets was various: us, german, romanian, chinese. I have seen that some producers have figures of serbian soldiers from that period but non of Croatian army.
Cheers

hi all, how about a..under nourished..worn-out..dirty looking marines and navy (PT boat crew)..particularly operating in the pacific theater ..south east asia to be exact. you could see some news reels and pictures that they..weren't that good looking. i was building my PT boat and i wanted to portray them that way. i made some conversion but that didn't do good either. a downed japanese pilot would be nice..kneeling or dragging out of the water position would be nice. dragon made a release on USMC tarawa but the figures look healthy. clothes hanging and thinning some of the figures would be nice. just an idea. thanks.
well..if you check the early thread about the..'open shirts'...i think that's a nice idea too. open shirts, wearing shorts and yes..female soldiers and civilians..would be really nice to make the series feel almost 'real'. thanks again
